I found it interesting that 29% of fish species have disappeared, and that fish populations have dropped to at least 90% below historical heights. This was interesting to me because these were big numbers and if it keeps going like this there will not be any fish left. These numbers also show how big of a problem this really is.

What I found very surprising was that the fishing industry makes about $80 B dollars every year for fishing, and they know that fishes are becoming more scarce in the sea, and that overfishing is a problem. I’ve even talked to my mom about this, and she didn’t care, while eating a clam. So I’m kinda surprised about how people want to kill these fishies and eat them even if they are almost extinct and and a main problem for a food apocalypse.

I found that the way we can reverse the trend of depletion was interesting. The text claims that one way we can r Duce the depletion of fish is that we can set limits on large-scale fishing and pollution, while creating safe areas like marine reserves to protect our oceans. This shows how measures have been set to protect our waters. Furthermore the text claims that we have become one of the biggest consumers of marine life, eating fish, crab, clams, and other delicacies. This describes how in time we can become vegetarian to reduce consumption of fish in order to do our part in saving our waters.

I found it surprising that researchers found out that 29 fish species are close to disappearing. I found that surprising because even though it doesn’t seem like much, 29% is a lot of fish. And if we keep this up, we could lose fishhhhh! Fish population have dropped 90% below their historical heights. I feel like this is a bad thing, and in 30 years, if there is no fish, people should be thinking that they should’ve stopped overfishing.

Based on my reading of the text, I found it interesting for many reasons. A part of the text that caught my attention was the graph that they had demonstrated. It had showed the amount of information that they had collected throughout their study. In the text it says “ An international team of 14 researchers spent four years analyzing fish populations, catch records, and other marine studies.” This shows that they were taking their job seriously and they truly want to help the marine life.

One thing that I found surprising based on my reading the text, “Hook, Line, and Sinker” is that fish will soon be extinct. On the first page, the text states, “If we don’t change the way we treat the ocean, fish may be rare in the future.” I found this surprising because it’s shocking to know that fish are endangered and when I grow up, fish won’t be there. People might end up asking, “Hey, remember fish?”. I could not think about what would happen since it really surprised me.

Based on my reading of the text, “Hook, Line, and Sinker”, what I found interesting and surprising is that we keep overfishing and polluting. I found this interesting and surprising because we know that this is bad for the species in the oceans and that we are destroying the ecosystem but we aren’t doing anything about it. But I also think that we should protect more areas. In the text it states, “The researchers have called for measures to protect current fish population, such as having nations set limits on large-scale fishing, reducing pollution, and creating protected areas. I think we should do more about this.
