I wonder what the people in the book really think about Auggie in their own minds without sharing their thoughts, do they even care, or are they freaked out? Also, what will Auggie do after middle school? Will he stay in middle school or become home schooled again. Some questions I asked to myself while reading this book is to ask myself what I would do in this situation, or how could I prevent it if I was one of the characters in the book.

This was a real world connection. Ways that I can connect to Wonder is, In the past years have witnessed and experienced bullying like Auggie has in the book. I can understand what Auggie goes through. Also I can connect to how Auggie felt when first going into middle school. I was put into a whole different environment because I came from a very small school into a huge one like Auggie did coming from being home schooled into middle school.

I can infer that Auggie will continue with grade school instead of homeschool because of the nice people, like teachers and friends he met throughout the year. I can also infer that Auggie will become more open around people/ social because of his positive experiences in middle school already.

The parts in the passage that I could visualize most is when Auggie took his first middle school tour, I could understand his fear, because I have felt it before also. I say this because I remember when I first had my middle school tour, so I could easily visualize it. Also, I can visualize the bleeding scream scene. That is when Julian and his friends make fun of Auggie on halloween and Auggie started crying under his scream mask I could feel how sad it was for him through the writing (page 198).

Wonder is overall a touching book. I would highly recommend reading it. It first starts off informing the reader that Auggie is a 10 year old boy with a face deformity. He has been home schooled for his whole life and now is attending a grade school for his first time. People start to get used to Auggie and his looks and become friends with him, but many people are still being rude to Auggie and many conflicts break out. In the end Auggie and his school go to a three day retreat into the woods where an incident breaks out having Auggie becoming more popular.

Auggie has a dramatic change through the entire story. He starts off has a non-confident, shy 10 year old into a brave social person at the end of middle school. He soon warms up to the whole school thing and becomes a whole different person at the beginning of the book.

The theme of this book can be many different thing, but I think that the main theme is Courage. I say
this because Auggie shows so many different examples courage throughout the entire story like Auggie going to middle after being home schooled for so long and coming back to school after what he has heard people say and do to Auggie (page 227).

everyoneThe exposition is, Auggie starts his first year of middle school now that he is healthy enough. The rising action is Auggie is brought to his new school where 3 kids were selected to give him a tour. Jack and Charlotte are nice to Auggie, but Julian is being a bit rude. People in school soon get used to his looks but don't quite accept him yet, because they start the "plague" where Auggie is untouchable. The climax of the story is when the school goes out to a nature retreat . Jack needs to go to the restroom, but the line is to long so Auggie accompanieds Jack to relieve in the woods. They soon get in a conflict with some older kids where there was verbal absuse and physical contact between evryone. The falling action is Auggie turns into his regular self. He became more open and social after what happended, and he wants to give seconds chances to people. He now is laughing, cracking jokes, and so on. The resolution is Auggie always wanted to know how it felt to have a standing ovation after seeing his sister's standing ovation after a performance. He never thought he would be the kid up on the stage experiencing that, but on graduation day he did. He won the Henry Ward Beecher medal and he sees clapping and then rising from their feet to finally experience a standing ovation (page 276).

In my opinion the author's writing style uses the character's views to help write the book. It wasn't always Auggie just talking about his perspective there were so many other character's talking as well. That is what makes this book so good.
