Unfortunately, there was a lot of prejudice against black people. All Commonwealth citizen had the right to settle in Britain, but soon the government began to limit the numbers of people allowed in. At the same time laws made race discrimination illegal. As a result, the situation of black people improved, but really slowly and soon also black people had important posts.
