The theory I could most relate to during my toddle years would have to be cognitive development. During the Preoperational stage is when I would use see common things and associate them. For example, in my house we had many dogs so the more I would see them I knew they were dogs. To me anything furry would be a dog until later I distinguished the difference between a dog and a cat. During my toddle years was when I first stared daycare. To me that was a whole new world because I was always taken care of my aunts or grandmother. So to me that time felt like I was being left somewhere else for good. As it became a routine then I later understood what was happening. An event that I can remember but more during this time, is when Selena got shot. I remember everyone talking about this everywhere. I was too little to understand but now its made me understand that you don’t have to know a person or be close to them to feel a certain pain whenever something tragic happens to them.

he attachment theory is something that occurs from the moment you are born. You automatically get that attachment from mom the moment they lay you in her arms. Now during my early childhood moments being close to my mom was something necessary for me because it felt like a safe zone. No matter where she went, I felt like I needed to be around her. Yes, I do think that she probably needed her own time but at the moment its not something that we think about. An age-graded event that occurred during my childhood would be having to begin preschool. Since at this time I was still too attached to my mom, it was not an easy task for me. I remember crying all day that first day of school until she finally came and picked me up. I believe it was about 2 weeks until I finally let go a bit and just understood that it was going to be pretty much an everyday kind of thing. A history graded event during this time that influenced me was the knowing of bullying. Before entering pre-school, I was an only child at home with no other interaction as to how other kids could possibly be. So, after witnessing this in my school that’s when I knew that not all people are very nice. It pretty weird that I remember this, but I can still see that little girl getting made fun of because of the way she dressed.

Concrete Operational Reasoning, conservation, would be the one I relate to the most. As I got older, I understood the differences in different kinds of measurements but still being the same. For example, pouring the same amount of juice into different cups. My little cousins would always throw a fit when we were getting the same amount of juice just in different cups. To them since they were getting smaller cups, they assumed they were getting let but the amount poured into my long cup was just the same. Yet, they still did not understand that. Now, a non-normative event that occurring this time was when I was 10 years old. The passing of my uncle was something no one ever expected. According to my mom, he was perfectly healthy and suddenly, he just didn’t wale up the next morning. Up to this day there has been no reason as to why this happened. A history graded event that I remember clearly was 9-11. At the time I did not understand why the world was showing this incident all over the world, and I remember seeing a lot of people very sad which at the time I did not understand, but as I grew older, I now understand why everything was the way it was at that time.

Information processing theory is the theory that I connected to the most during my adolescence. The ability to finally be able to listen and think about other things was a huge help for me in school. Long before this I had to concentrate on only one thing at a time, and once I got to this theory, I was able to process things faster. For example, If the teacher was giving a lecture, I would be able to take down notes at the same time. A non-normative event would have to be when my parents entered the process of divorce. At this time, I didn’t really know what was happening until I got older and had understood everything that had happened. A history graded event that I remember was when hurricane Katrina occurred. During those times a lot of people came together to help out those that were affected by the hurricane and it’s amazing how people can come together to help others in need.

Emerging Adulthood

Identity versus role confusion is a theory that I related to the most. This theory is the stage we go through during emerging adulthood where we try to find ourselves. After I graduated high school, I went into the nursing program because most of my family were RN’s. As time and time went by I knew it was something I truly didn’t want to do as my career. I eventually switched to the social work program and so far I am very glad I did. An age-graded event during this time is when I graduated high school. It was a big turning point for me in a way that I didn’t know what to do next. Many told me to go into college right away but I decided to take a break from school for a while. So, pretty much after high school I was in a same schedule everyday of waking up late, eating, going out, sleep, and repeat. A world event during my emerging childhood is when covid occurred. I knew that eventually all of my family members would get it, but never did I think that I would lose my grandmother to it.
