Technology is important to be used with emergent bilinguals because it incorporates important learning strategies that are beneficial to their learning. Technology provides that time for collaboration, problem solving, creativity, culture, critical thinking and communication.

My personal philosophy is that technology provides a greater depth of learning with emergent bilinguals and any student you have. In my placement we incorporate technology time to practice fact fluency, vocabulary, and other technological skills. The main reason for this is due to the repetition that these online sites provides for students learning. Another important reasoning for technology is that most of these sites that are beneficial to emergent bilinguals is that they can go at their own pace, see visuals to create those connections with their learning, and view learning in another aspect than just sitting in a classroom trying to decode what the teacher is teaching.

By allowing students to reach for technology and utilize sites that are beneficial to their learning, by targeting their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration etc is so beneficial with language development. You are able to expand the knowledge of your students by immersing them in learning that is personal to them, relatable to their learning, and engaging!
https://www.iste.org/standards/for-students#startstandards
