Who Made the Major Decisions in your Family?

Being raised in a separated family, I have a different childhood experience. I was able to spend a lot of time with both parents. On my dad side, he was the one to make most of the decisions. My stepmom would have an important say but ultimately it was my Dad's say. One experience I have is moving to Utah. My step mom wanted us to stay in California but ultimately my dad had us move. On my mom's side, it was totally my mom who made the majority of the decisions. My Step Dad did occasionally but usually it was my mom. When we go on Vacation, if we ever want to do something in specific or get something, we need my mom's permission more so than my step dads.

How did you learn about Religious Manners?

Both of my parents were both active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's. They taught me the ways of that religion. I learned a lot of it through regularly attending church and a seminary class. I then went on a 2 year mission for my church and learned a tremendous amount out on a mission.

If you had Siblings of the Opposite Sex, did you Notice Different Child Rearing Practices being Followed? What were some of those Differences?

I have a total of 7 siblings. I have definitely noticed different child rearing practices. I was the more spoiled one. I pretty much got whatever I wanted and my parents were more strict with my other siblings. An example, is that I was able to go to a lot of College Football games growing up. When my sisters wanted to do something similar to do, it wasn't always a guarantee.

In general, would your family be classified as formal or informal?

100 percent informal. We were super chill. There were a lot of nights that we had dinner on the couch. When we went out in public, we were the crazy family that had a lot of kids every where. It was way funny.

What was the attitude toward the elderly?

My family loves the elderly. My parents taught me to respect and serve the elderly. I really remember my dad teaching me that if I was ever on a train or subway to give my seat up for an elderly woman or man. It was a great lesson. At the same time, I was taught that its okay to mess with them. We always mess with my grand parents about being old and they seem to think its funny.
