My experience so far has been a whirlwind of feelings, expectations, and frightening realities. Unfortunately, I have been around others who make the mask mandate into a political stance instead, of a worldwide gesture of peace. The lack of consideration of others has made me angry, sad, scared, and mostly confused. It is a testament to see the differing mindsets and morals within the U.S. In the Dyad conversation I learned that due to the former administration in power, some of the American people have become skeptical of the validity of the vaccine. The efforts of others are diluted by the actions of those in power. Will this be rectified by the new administration of the United States is a question that needs more time but, I do know that the weight on our shoulders is a little lighter day after day.

Covid-19 has given me a deeper appreciation for life and being thankful. I personally have gone through a chain of emotions ranging from excitement when schools first closed, to lack of trust, anger, sympathy, gratefulness, etc...Once my boyfriend tested positive and was hospitalized it hit home. The safety measures are an adjustment and I continue to follow although I anticipate the end. At times I feel that I have grasped why this is happening and other times I feel like I can't make sense of any of it. My fears about Covid have never really been at high levels because of my faith and mindset of what will be is meant. I hope and pray for this to be over soon and if I or someone close to me is affected we beat this thing. Not knowing what to expect and not having that control is unsettling.

We are waiting patiently for the return of "normal".

Life has changed drastically in the past 10 months. Adjusting drastically has been difficult. I have a myriad of feelings about this. I am anxious, angry, nervous, sad, thankful, prayerful, appreciative, and confused, but faithful. I am anxious because I am still required to work and I am unsure about the wellness of those that I come into contact with. I am angry because I feel like there have been too many deaths and people sick which could have been avoided. I am nervous because I don't know what is coming next like how much worse can this get before it gets better or how many times can this virus mutate. Is the vaccine safe for all? Are there enough people donating plasma to help those that may get or have the virus. I am sad because again this could have been prevented or slowed, I watched a close friend lose her life to this virus and it broke my heart. I am thankful that my family has remained close and has been able to deal with this virus and overcome. I am prayerful because it is the one that keeps me sane and able to function daily. I am appreciative for my finances staying stable through these difficult times. And confused about whats to come and why so much has happened, but I have faith that God's will be done.

People are not able to physically and personally interact in close spaces, engage in face to face conversations without protective gear, and simply enjoy life as we did a year ago.

This discussion was very interesting. One of the questions asked if this was a scary topic, I didn't find it to be scary but definitely uncertain. For me, the topic of Covid-19 is always unsettling for me because of the unknown and the lack of knowledge even from those in power or research of this virus. No one is aware of the exact structure of this virus or even how to fully contain it as we have mutated strands that are growing around the world. Even as phases are opening in business, we see the relaxed attitude as they aren't even taking necessary precaution. This is what frightens me as this contributes to the spread of this virus. I think that our way of living as we know it will be the "new norm" and this virtual reality is something that will now be a part of our daily living.

I’ve had close friends and family contract the virus and I’ve also had very close family friends and family die from Covid-19 complications. Teaching during the pandemic has been chaotic at times. From teaching virtual to hybrid models, it can be very cumbersome and taxing. Lots of information being withheld in regards to whether students are in quarantine and it leaves you open to speculation and serious concern about whether your health has been compromised. I haven’t been able to visit with my family but I am grateful for technology and the ability to see faces over the internet. However, I have a pivot and move philosophy so I try not to dwell in the now and look forward to the latter.

The Dyad conversation gave me a view at other’s perspectives based on their view point and stance.

As an educator on a school site, my primary contact list in my personal opinion is extensive during a pandemic. It is consistent in that I interact with the same people Monday - Friday, but when I think about the primary contact of all of those people, that number is scary.

As an educator, I come in contact with multiple students for more than 15 minutes at a time unaware of their circles. I enjoyed the previous tasks as it gives engaging lessons to showcase the importance of following precautionary measures to limit the spread. I think that as an educator, it is important to continue to teach students the importance of wearing a mask, washing hands, and keeping a distance because many are not aware of how serious this virus is.

As an educator, we come in contact with so many people, other teachers, students, administrators, etc. We easily are in contact with them for more that 15 minutes. Sure we try to take all the precautionary measures that are advised of us, but when students leave and go home, we don't know what happens there or how many people they are in contact with and so forth. It is a risky job being a teacher.

This task demonstrated the effectiveness of PROPER hand washing. Simply rinsing your hands with water will not get rid of the the corona virus, a fat based virus. Although the oil exaggerated the effect, it was powerful. Water alone will not do the trick, but soap and time will. The soap does not have to be antibacterial, just time, soap, and water.
