The lamb in The Kite Runner, symbolizes Hassan. Just like how on Eid, the lamb is sacrificed in the Islamic culture,
Amir sacrifices Hassan to Aseef and his friends, in order to win over Baba. Amir wants to have his fathers full attention. He is jealous that Baba puts Hassan and him on equal footing. In both cases, the lamb and Hassan have no control and are completely defenceless. They are being abused for the enjoyment of others.

It also signifies Amir's betrayal towards Hassan, because when Hassan went running to catch the blue kite, he was raped by Assef. Amir had watched but he hadn't done anything to stop it or even tried to save Hassan. Another thing it signifies is Amir and Hassan's friendship.

The Kite in the novel "The Kite Runner" represents the friendship between Hassan and Amir. Amir and Hassan are described to have a strong brotherly like bond, this making their friendship very strong. The blue Kite was one of the last two kites flying in the Kite tournament. Therefore this showing that the Kite is very strong much like their friendship and was never able to get cut much like Amir and Hassan's friendship could never break. However, a single mistake caused the blue Kite to get cut and eventually separate. Therefore, this represents the mistake that Amir made which broke the bond between him and Hassan and caused them to separate despite how strong it might have been in the past.

In the book The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini, The Kite represents a symbol. In my opinion, I believe The Kite represents the key to Baba's heart. This is because Baba wishes that Amir could be like him as he was a child, which is to be active. Baba does not like the fact the Amor just sits around reading and writing stories. This is the only chance that Amir has to truly prove who he is and what he can do to Baba.

It was his happiness in his childhood because it was the one thing that him and Baba was able to connect and enjoy together.
