Some of my earliest vacation memories were of taking the train to visit Teetee (Ann) my mother's oldest sister who lived in Detroit. There were a whole slew of cousins, aunts and uncles there. Two of my mothers three brothers also lived there with their families and worked for General Motors. Of course they did, it was the Motor City. I remember it being a lot of fun. The photos I find now, of Detroit, are scary to say the least. But in the 60’s where we visited was lovely. Trees and grass, sitting on the porch in the summer laughing and talking while the adults played cards. And the music, oh the music and dancing. It was Motown for real. That’s how I remember it. Once we took a boat ride over to Toronto, Canada. The lights were like low sparkling stars just across the lake.
