Jemison and a crew of six other astronauts went on 126 orbits around the earth, on September 12, 1992. What makes Mae so influential, even in society today, is she never let the fear of feeling less included than others hold her back from breaking any barrier she might’ve been challenged with. Jemison simply had the audacity to do something different, whereas other women may have been too scared to do so, Jemison worked hard, and proved that hard work does pay off in life. She studied at Stanford University in her younger days, and more recently can be found teaching at Dartmouth University.
