My name is Maman. When I was young, my father and my mother were killed by the police. But it has never been difficult for me, as I learned how to make money. As the legal way was very difficult for a slum kid, I decided to go the illegal way. This was the start of something great. Once, for example, I went to the dumping site and I removed the precious metals from different things. This way I made my first 1000 rupees. But this was very inefficient, as I sometimes only found half a gram after being searching for a whole day.

A few years later I saw one boy, begging and singing next to a very busy street. I asked him why he did that. He said that he was a member of a group of children and that he had to give his winnings to his "boss". He also mentioned that he could keep a small percentage. After that, I took my Revolver, which I had found on the dumping site, and went to the address the boy gave me. When I got there, I shot the man.

From there on, I've been the leader of the group. And I made it bigger rapidly. Soon I had over 100 kids singing and begging for me. The boy I had met in the streets became the second in charge. Everyday I kidnapped a dozen kids and taught them to sing. When they were able to sing very well, I blinded them because blind ones earned double. The business ran well for a couple of years.

Once, I caught two boys and a girl, Jamal, Salim and Latika. I liked Salim, I really did. I could feel his evilness, so I made him the guardian of the kids. After a few weeks, Jamal could sing very well, and it was time to blind him. Unfortunately, Salim betrayed me and ran away to a train station with Jamal and Latika. They jumped onto the train but they left Latika behind.

Years passed and Latika became older. Finally I could sell her virginity for a lot of money. I heard of some turmoil in the club where Latika worked. My gang and I drove there as quickly as possible. When I entered Latika's room, there were two teenagers in there. I instantly remembered their faces: they were Salim and Jamal. Suddenly, Salim pulled out a gun. I told him, that we could talk about it. The next moment I heard a shot and felt a sharp pain in my head. This is the last thing I can remember.

I loved this movie. At first I thought it was going to be kind of boring , but when I saw the flashbacks I started to like it. I also like that it shows a little bit of the life in the slums and I think that's really interesting for the people who don't know about it. I love how you get to know each character. My favourite one is Salim Malik, I really like the change he experiences at the end of the film.

Hello, my name is Javed I was born in the Slums, but now I live in the rich part of Mumbai. To get here , on many occasions, I had to choose: kill or die. When I was very young I met a boy called Maman. We were very good friends, we stole money together, we killed people together, but one day he killed my parents because he got angry with them. Then he ran away from me. Twenty years later I got married with a girl, Latika, but she escaped with a boy, Jamal. I was very angry with them so, before they escaped, I caught Latika. Some time later I saw on TV that Jamal had won 20 million rupees. Then I killed Salim because he had helped Latika to escape.

Hi! I'm a police inspector, my name is Yamir Patel. I live in Mumbai. Do you remember when a slumdog won the famous TV programme "Who wants to be a millionaire?" The boy's name was Jamal Malik. He was acussed of cheating. I had to interrogate him and for each question of the programme he told me a little story of his life. All the stories were related to a girl called Latika. He was in love with her and he went to the TV programme to find her. The other officers thought that he was lying but I thought he was telling the truth, so I let him go back and finish the show. In the end he got the last question right and he won 20 million rupees and he found the girl.

My name is Prem Kumar and I am 34 years old. I am the host of the world - famous TV-show "Who wants to be a millionaire?"

One day, a guy called Jamal came to my show and tried his luck. He lived in the slums and was very poor. Because of his origin, Jamal was a stranger to everybody in the studio, except to me. I remember sitting on the same chair with the same past as he. But I had no pity. Quite the opposite, I made fun of him thinking he would not even answer the first questions. But as he answered question after question correctly, I was getting really jealous and angry because I had underestimated him.

Finally he got to the last question and we had a break to keep the thrill. 'Jamal must be cheating', I thought. I was so furious that I sent Jamal to a brutal police officer. He should find out how Jamal was cheating. But nothing, not even torture, could give me the reason why he had got so far. The police brought him back to the show and Jamal answered the last question correctly. The nightmare, of not being the only slumdog who had won the show, became true.

Hi, I'm Prem Kumar, the host of "Who wants to be a millionaire?" Like Jamal and Salim Malik, I come from the slums. I also became a millionaire thanks to the fact that I won a similar contest to the one I present. Since I didn't want to stop being the first slumdog to have won it, during a commercial break, after one of the questions, I tried to trick Jamal into giving an incorrect answer, but Jamal Ignored my advice and chose the correct one. Then, as I thought he was cheating, I called the police and handed him over. Finally, he won the twenty million rupees. My tricks didn't work.

Hi, I´m Latika and I´m Jamal´s wife. I met him 30 years ago on a rainy night when he invited me to stay with him and his brother. We became very good friends and had a lot of adventures. One day a man found us and took us to his house. He wanted to blind us so we tried to escape. Jamal and Salim escaped but I didn´t. That man, called Maman, wanted to sell my virginity but the brothers came back and saved me. Salim fell in love with me and threw Jamal out of the house. I suffered a lot with Salim and the gangster, but one day Salim let me go and I escaped to see Jamal. Now we are married and we have 3 children.

My name is Irrfan Khan and I am a police inspector in the city of Mumbai. Ten years ago, I got married with Anjali. I met her when I was 5 years old. Four years after getting married, she got pregnant and after nine months the little Nadya was born. She was very beautiful. One day, when Nadya was four years old, we were walking in the streets when suddenly a thief with a revolver pulled the trigger three times. Only two bullets left the revolver, enough to kill Anjali and hurt Nadyas' spine. Fortunately, there was an ambulance near so they could come very fast. Nadya was in coma for two weeks. When she woke up she started to cry and scream because she couldn't move her legs. The doctor said that she would not be able to walk anymore. I couldn't believe it, in only two weeks all my life had changed, so I decided to dedicate my life to catch criminals and do justice.

After 6 months she got used to being in the wheelchair. Now she can't do many things, like playing with other children because they laugh at her, so she stays at home reading books and learning a lot of things.

Yesterday Jamal Malik came into my office, they accuse him of cheating in the biggest TV show. I really think he cheated because he didn't know what was under the emblem of India: "Truth Alone Triumphs". My daughter knew it, although she is very clever, she is all day reading.That is why I thought he cheated.

In the end, after he explained to me all his story, I knew he hadn't cheated.

JAMAL MALIK

I am Jamal, I live in a slum in Mumbai, India. I have an older brother, he is called Salim. When I was a little boy I met the love of my life: she was called Latika. She is a really beautiful girl and I love her. When I grew up and got older, I decided to go to a TV programme, called `` Who wants to be a millonaire?´´ and I won 20 millions rupees. The police inspector asked me why I knew all the aswers and I answered because... And in this moment the flashbacks start and the police inspector and I recalled how I knew the aswer to each question. For example, when I found Latika I worked for my brother, she worked as a dancer. One day Salim let Latika escape from Javed's house to find me and we sarted a life together. Salim died because his men killed him. At the end of this film there is a funny dance at the train station; Latika and I danced to a happy song.

The first time I met Jamal was in the middle of a fight in the street, but Jamal and I became friends later, on a rainy night.
One day some gangsters caught me. Jamal and Salim could escape but I couldn't.
A few years later Salim and Jamal rescued me but Salim fought with Jamal and Jamal had to leave.
One day Jamal found me but Javed caught me again with the help of Salim. Later Salim set me free and I could go with Jamal.

The only thing I want is to kidnap Jamal, I hate this little boy!! . After several years I found Jamal and his brother Salim but they escaped again, because they crossed a door and started to run. Then I kidnapped Salim, the older boy, and he became my employee. Finally he betrayed me, he caught a gun and killed me first, but my men had guns too and killed Salim.

The main character is called Jamal Malik, an Indian from the slums. He is a contestant in the famous TV programme "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" and is one question away from the grand prize. Before the 20 million rupees question, he is arrested and tortured by the police, who suspect him of cheating because they think it is impossible that a simple "slumdog", with very little education, knows all the answers. Jamal tells, through flashbacks, the incidents in his life which provided him with each answer. Assuming Jamal is cheating, the police are involved. After torturing him, the police inspector listens to Jamal's explanation of how he knew each answer. Finding all of them admissible, he allows him to go back to the show. At Javed's house, the gangster, Latika sees Jamal on the news and Salim, in an effort to make amends for his past behaviour, gives Latika his mobile phone and the car keys, and asks her to forgive him and to go to Jamal. She agrees and escapes. Jamal's final question is the name of the third musketeer. Jamal uses his "Phone a friend" to call Salim's cell, as it is the only phone number he knows. Latika answers the phone, and, even though she does not know the answer, she tells Jamal that she is safe. Relieved, Jamal arbitrarily picks up "Aramis", the right answer, and wins the grand prize. Javed hears Latika on the show and realises that Salim has betrayed him. He and his men break down the bathroom door but Salim kills Javed before he is shot. Jamal and Latika meet on the platform at the railway station; they kiss and they dance happily to a song.

Hi, I'm Salim Malik. I had always lived in the slums, in India, but one day everything changed. I have a young brother called Jamal who has been my mate since I can remember. I really appreciate him, I always feel like I have to protect him. One day our mum died because of a religious riot. It was so hard for us but we kept going. That day we met Latika. I've always been jealous of her, my brother was so happy when he was with her and I thought he would start to ignore me. I know I wasn't fair with her but that was how I felt, I was a kid. When I left her behind in that train I felt good, I knew what Maman could do with her, but I abandoned her.

In my life I have been through many hard and tough situations. When Jamal and I started to steal things from other people I could see he wasn't happy at all, but I didn't tell him anything. I didn't like it either , but it was what gave us money. At that time I started to get really obsessed with it. I reached a point where I could do anything for it, even kill someone.

One day I left my brother behind because of the money I could earn with Latika's virginity. I threatened him with a gun. It was hard for me when I thought about it. Jamal was confused and furious with me. I was also surprised about what I could do for money. When I met Javed it was the best day of my life. Latika married him, I forced her to do it, it was the best for us. I started to work for Javed, he was a gangster. He would give me an insane amount of money if I did what he told me, I did horrible things, I got used to praying, it was my only escape. At that time I was always remembering the time I spent scaring kids when I was only 7 or 8 years old, with Maman.

I really missed my brother so when he called me I was so excited to see him again, but he didn't feel that happy, he punched me in the face, he had never hit me before. Then I payed my frustration with Latika, I hurt her in the cheek. In the end I realized my brother and Latika were meant to be together. I helped her scape from Javed's house because I really wanted her to be with Jamal, I had grown up. After that I knew Javed was going to kill me, so I waited for him to return. Before dying I remembered all the good times I had lived with Jamal, he was an amazing guy, I knew he was going to win that contest and that Latika would find him and they'd be together, forever.

Summary

Jamal Malik, a young orphaned who lives in the slums, Mumbai, decides to participate in a TV contest: 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' Surprisingly he knows all the answers. How can it be possible? A person who comes from the slums?

When he is one question left to win twenty million rupees, the host of the show sends the police to wait at the exit, and they take him to the police station. The host thinks that Jamal is cheating. Moreover, he doesn't want Jamal to win the contest. There, they interrogate him and Jamal tells them the relation between the questions and his past. When his mother was murdered, about his brother Salim...and finally the police inspector discovers the reason why he wanted to take part in the contest, his love for Latika: he had lost her when they were children and this contest was the way to find her again.

When they free Jamal, he comes back to the show to answer the last question, but he is not sure about it so he calls Salim, his brother. Instead of his brother, it is Latika who answers the phone because Salim had released her from the horrible Javed and had given her his phone. Eventually he chooses the right answer and Jamal and Latika can be together now.

I liked the film because it tells a love story and at the same time it shows what life is like in Mumbai. It has very sad parts, for example when Jamal's mother died or when they lost Latika. I like the end because it is a happy ending.

I am Jamal Malik , I live in a poor slum in India.I have an older brother , his name is Salim.When I was a child I lost my mother in a riot. My brother and I had to leave my mother's corpse there and I felt very sad but we had to go on: Then we met Latika, his parents also died in the attack. We lived in the dumping site in a tent. One day Maman came to offer us avery good childhood in his orphanage. The first days we were very happy but Salim discovered they only wanted us to work as beggars to earn money for them and we decided to escape but they saw us when we were running to a train and they caught Latika, the love of my life.A few years later we earned our living stealing and fooling people in the Taj Mahal. Then Salim and I found Latika but Maman was her boss. Salim killed them and we ran away but Salim didn´t let me stay with them. Some years later I took part in a TV contest to find Latika. I knew all the answers and I won 20 million rupees because I had lived all those moments. In the end, I meet Latika in the train station and now we live very well in my mansion in the outskirts of Mumbai.

I like the film a lot because it tells us the story of a guy from the slums that becomes rich. The movie alternates stories of his chilhood and of the TV program and that makes the movie more dynamic.

I love this film because it was intersting, and Jamal, the protagonist, was a very good person, so I like him a lot. I don't like Javed because he was a very bad person, and he mistreated Latika.

MAMAN I was born in the slums. My parents died when I was 5. When I was 15 I was a vandal and I drew graffities. At 17 I was a drugdealer and I smoked weed. When I was 20 I was a kidnapper and I stole a lot of chindren. When I was 30, Salim killed me with a gun and they set Latika free

I loved the film, it´s very interesting but I would prefer a better ending

I liked this film because it was so interesting to know India. I love this country. Besides, the movie was interesting and lovely, although some parts were a bit boring.
