Digital/Online vs In Person experiences especially when combined, have to be careful to "force" any experience. 

How to engage schools/school groups? Provide support for teachers while also providing additional programming that does not fall on the teacher's shoulders.

How will adults want to engage?  Most likely will not go back to the way it was, pace of activity, type of activity (large group),  

Outdoor experiences could sustain interest and demand spike resulting from the pandemic.

How can we play a role ]]> 2021-01-11 21:15:16 UTC https://padlet.com/msimon84/hzjhuldxq096dmtt/wish/1076285461 msimon84 https://padlet.com/msimon84/hzjhuldxq096dmtt/wish/1076370128 (Brian - still happening so not sure they know yet), Doug mentioned that Bryan Delaney mentioned a year ago that we needed to make sure that we had virtual experiences and needed to put more into that.  Charlie, his oldest is in 1st grade, has to be proactive in kids development and education can't outsource it to the schools.   Digital piece is really important going forward; however, the digital space is so crowded, everyone is doing something online and we need to protect the physical experience in the physical space, it sets us apart even if its not your first choice to do today.  Alfred, J, K, 1st, 3rd and 8th graders, he lets the kids go on you tube and does not really monitor them.  Alfred, from the medical side, kids may be the last ones to get vaccinated.  He was at home last week with the kids and it was a living hell, his 8th grader's curriculum almost did him in.  We have all of this physical space so we need to do something like personalized bookings? important to stay creative?  Brian, the experience is the more important than the brick and mortar. The Air and Space museum in DC cemented the experience for him, he still remembers the smell in the carpet and the marks on the shuttle from the flight.  The Great Acceleration leading the the Great Migration pent up energy into the roaring 2020s.  Doug spoke about the Optimist space and employees encouraged to work in that space and get used to the experience and don't want to return to their older buildings or their plants.  Different perspectives that everyone has, huge need for supporting the kids who are getting left behind.  Some children are falling through the cracks and it is only getting worse.]]> 2021-01-11 21:47:40 UTC https://padlet.com/msimon84/hzjhuldxq096dmtt/wish/1076370128 https://padlet.com/msimon84/hzjhuldxq096dmtt/wish/1076431568 Tom - if we get the vaccine it will help a whole lot and people will return to normal activities, pandemic vaccine may be like the flue shot Everyone on the group agree that people with younger children will come back to the Museum, vaccine is the only thing that will bring people back to our Museums. With the pandemic many people will have appreciation for science because of the vaccine. The group believe that virtual learning should be a hybrid of learning. Added value to current DP offering would be an idea of using online tool to add to in-person continuing learning after leaving the Museum. It was reiterated that after in-person eLearning will keep the fire lit for continuous interest and engagement with DP. The believe that there will be a surge in attendance after pandemic in late fall and DP should start planning for staffing support and deployment.
