         <description><![CDATA[<div>In terms of skilled migration, Australia appears to be doing very well.<br><br>Australia's treatment of asylum seekers and refugees in its onshore and offshore immigration detention centers is atrocious to say the least.<br><br>Post-WWII immigration and immigration after the dismantling of the 1901 Immigration Restriction Act (White Australia Policy) in 1973 helped increase and strengthen Australia's population.<br><br>Strong recurring xenophobic behaviors among some Australians against immigrants from certain countries/regions (e.g. the Chinese, Irish, Italians/Greeks, Vietnamese, Middle-Eastern, African) is a stain on Australia's reputation.</div>]]></description>
