Name: Angela Catherine Baquero
Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research

Tutor: Claudia Yuliana Ramírez
Date: March 20, 2019

The theory that I will use is humanistic. It was developed by Carl R Rogers (1902-1987) and Abraham Maslow (1908-1970), and it was used to study human problems, studying man and the complement of what already exists taking into account the conscience the ethics, the individuality and the spiritual values of individuals This theory indicates that "meaningful and experiential learning is defined as the process that modifies the perception that individuals have of reality, and derives from the reorganization of the self" Carl Rogers (1980) indicates (cited in Abc Color 2003); he conceives this theory as a psychology of "being" and not of "having" in a way that implies that he participates in a responsible way in that process formulating his problems, discovering the resources to overcome them or solve them, and assumes the consequences of his choices, achieving This way to reach the main conception "to be" achieving the attention of the differences and individual needs of the individuals achieving a process of formation and in turn are encounter of man with his being, his existentiality.

As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variable since this theory promotes the idea that students are different and it is important to help them to be themselves and less to others by promoting this approach a process is provided integral education where the development of knowledge, competences and at the same time values and ethical principles that lead to mutual recognition where good acting is promoted, well-founded principles are built where a conscious individual is built and trained, who recognizes the other like an equal but that looks for its own essence but that does not stop recognizing itself as a unique being keeping an active role and its educational process therefore Garcia. J (n.d) indicates "The human being is aware of himself and of his existence. It is driven according to what it was in the past and preparing for the future."

Stramiello (2005), today's humanistic education states that "it appears as a concern of our society that young people learn quickly what serves them in terms of future work to the detriment of knowledge that is supposed to be lost." Consideration of educational activity only in its factual utility makes it difficult for us to see the importance of human education in the human being, since education is not primarily a mechanical process from which certain products are obtained, but something offered to a freely and freely assumed being ". From these we can establish the need and importance of educating individuals with a clear vision of what they constitute in society and what constitutes the other; beyond the knowledge and skills acquired values, morals, principles are a very important factor to build a transverse process in the lives of students in a way that allows them to incorporate themselves into society and generate a significant change in their lives and in the one of the others

The hypothesis that the answers regarding the level of knowledge of the individuals vary according to the level of follow-up of instructions and their efficiency according to the levels of schooling it can show in qualitative data (through methods of observations, test and conducting focus groups) and quantitative in (statistical data)

Understanding this theory can be put into practice in the real world i.e. in the classroom, if the teacher evaluates the students to detect their skills. At the same time, they can give instructions so that they can improve together with the group work so that those who are less prepared will increase and reach a high level.

March 18th
Raquel’s writing
This theory is a special theory since the social context is very important for building knowledge since this concept is about the interaction of the people and the humans develop different skills because, they interactive with other people of the society, for Vygotsky if the person has any interaction more knowledge will develop, also he said that the language is an essential fact for interacting between subject, but the cultures are important, however the language is not only important fact for developing the constructionism since the idea of the constructionism is to build the knowledge through to the experiences, but it is important to realize an explanation and give a activity in a context.

It is important to recognize that the constructionism is an interaction in a context, is better to understand the constructionism in a dynamic activity, for example in my experience as a teacher a try to use the constructionism since allow to teach in a context, however I don’t forget the explanation, for example I explain vocabulary about shop and price in English, but we must understand that it is difficult to be a context, however the idea is to be near to the context and de activity can be to realize different shop and start to practice as if it were a real context, it allow to interact with their mates and understand the topic in a real context.

Thanks

Shalom Ulloa

Name: Fermín Buitrago Romero

Course: Qualitative and Quantitative Research

Tutor: Claudia Yuliana Ramírez

Date: March 8, 2019.

Theoretical Perspective

The theory that I will use is Pragmatism It was founded and developed by American philosophers Charles Pierce (1839–1914), William James (1842–1910) and John Dewey (1859–1952), and it was used to study American society facing the many problems it was confronting at the time. This theory indicates that an ideology is true only if it works (particularly in promoting equity, freedom and justice) and generates practical consequences for society. As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variable(s) Age, Gender, Economic Strata, to influence or explain the dependent variable Reading. Dewey is its most well-known protagonist, due to his influence on pedagogical methods and educational systems (Sundin and Johannisson, 2006). Pragmatists are interested not on whether a proposition fits a particular ontology, but whether it suits a purpose and is capable of creating action, not only in theoretical aspects but in their application (Rorty, 1998). A belief is true if that belief shows some opportunities for better ways of democratic, purposeful living. Life must be impacted by the findings. Since the 1970s pragmatism has regained some of its popularity because of the insights it has provided for research into management and organizations and also because it is seen by some to provide an epistemological justification for mixing approaches and methods (Onwuegbuzie et al., 2009). While in pragmatist research, research paradigms can remain separate, they can also be mixed or combined into another research design. Hence, pragmatism views the mixing of quantitative (statistical data) and qualitative (human aspects involved) data in a single study not only as legitimate, but in some cases necessary.

References

Creswell, J. I mean, Vygotsky talks about sociolinguistic aspects - that includes context - and your proposal tries to give another perspective that gets the subject far from that context, giving only importance to social interrelation but setting them apart from the context - or that's what I understand - which I consider, having in mind real experience, a very important cause of change. I would compare the different contexts - school, house, and barrio - to search for the reasons of influence on the subject in my near context, if you permit me the suggestion.

Respectfully,

Fermín Buitrago

I understand that you want to study the relation between attitude during an activity, interrelation between people and the feeling they express to get their goals. But interrelation to get the activity results is repeated when talking about independent variable. I think it is a very interesting topic. Affective intelligence is very important, nowadays, in order to study limitations, weakness and disadvantages when being in search of excellence, and the research could help us looking for innovative solutions. However, it is important to clarify the independent variable to improve the true reason of your research.

Respectfully,

Fermín Buitrago

It is, as well as the other proposals, a very interesting one. All these opportunities to improve our work as teachers are essential when being in front of a group - our responsibility - and facing heavy problems, as the ones we are experiencing in our society.

Respectfully,

Fermín Buitrago
