Anne and her family avoided being caught by Hitler and his Nazis for several years.  While in hiding, Anne found comfort by writing in her diary.  Ambitious Anne Frank was able to continue studying even while in hiding.  She was able to do things that other people may not have had the patience for such as sitting in one place for many hours without making a sound.  While Anne was in hiding, she found joy in writing.  Anne wrote about her classmates and the boy she had a crush on in her diary.  Also, she wrote to her imaginary friend, Kitty. Unfortunately, on August 4, 1944 Anne and her family were captured by the Nazis. They were sent to Auswitz, a concentration camp. Later Anne and her sister were transferred to Bergen Belsen camp.  The living conditions were horrible.  As a result, Anne and her sister grew very thin and ill.  She eventually died on March 31, 1945. After Anne's death her father, Otto Frank, received her diary from a trusted employee.  Otto read the diary and thought Anne's words were so moving that the world must read them.  Her diary was printed in Dutch in 1947.
