Several did cover which pot materials were better for indoor vs. outdoor use
An article by the Mousrii Botanical Garden did explain 'Plants with lower, rounder growth habits may prefer azalea pots, while more upright or “tree” form plants prefer the deeper standard pots. Containers with narrow mouths should be avoided, as this gives little width at the rim and
can be difficult to plant.' (William T. Kempter Center for Home Gardening, 2017). The article continues in detail to describe the importance of size, shape, and drainage. I feel that overall this does imply that some research has shown that different plants, with different root forms, prefer different types of pots.

  • Germinate seeds.
  • Set-up pots, one 1-gallon pot and one FastPlant self-watering container. 
  • Once seeds are germinated, plant five seedlings in each pot.
  • Measure growth (in height) each school day. Leaves growth and size will also be documented.
  • Each pot was watered with the same amount of water each day (1 cup). 
  • Continue measuring growth for three weeks. 
  • Compare and contrast measuremnts of plants in each pot.
  • Analyze results.
