This picture depicts a scene in a train . I think that the woman is happy because she got a seat to rest for the rest of her journey . She might be taking the train during weekdays and off-peak . There are usually a lot of commuters that all the seats are occupied and most of the commuters are standing closely to one another to the extend that there are some who could not board the train and would need to wait for the next one .

Apart from that I think that she is feeling happy because there are trains in Singapore which she can easy access to almost every part of Singapore with fixed and lowest price without having to waste large amount of money on taxi rides .

I travel to school every day by taking the train and bus to and fro . I would take the nearest bus from my house to interchange in order to take the train . However, if the bus is late or there are a lot of commuters queueing for the bus I would walk to the LRT station and ride the LRT towards the MRT Station .

For trains , if there are any delay or train breakdown , I can take the taxi to school if it is urgent . As there are no straight buses from my area to school I could only depend on the trains and taxis .

On some days whereby my father works on a morning shift . He would send me to school by car .

Qn 3 : Do you think public transport should be free for everyone ? Why , or why not ?

No , I think public transport should not be free for everyone .
Fuels are needed in order for the buses to work , electricity are needed for trains and workers who work at these companies who drives are also needed to get paid . Moreover there are air-condition in every transportation , comfortable seats and spaces for commuters to place their bulky bags such as luggages or stroller in these transportation . Even spaces for handicap.

These shows that the sources needed such as fuels and electricity produced cost a lot and there are cons to the environment in order to produce it such as global warming and etc.
There is also an article from Straits Times saying that Singapore's train fares are among the lowest compared to other major cities around the world .With 10km rail journey , commuters pay $1.33.
Not just that , they tried to make it cheaper by having fare discounts starting from December 29 2017 of up to 50 cents at any rail station during weekdays before 7.45 AM excluding public holidays . Besides that , we have different fare prices for commuters . Students get to pay cheaper than adults and it is free for children below 0.9m . Apart from that , there is a concession cards which commuters can enjoy fare discounts .

Therefore , I think that transports in Singapore shouldnt be free .

Qn 1 : Would you find an activity like the one shown in the picture relaxing ? Why , or why not ?

This picture shows a man and a lady erecting a tent together . I think that it is not easy nor relaxing
to erect a tent especially when it is a big tent because the bigger the harder . However , with teamwork , I believe that it will get easier . Also , having someone with experience or experts in assembling it will be more helpful but we can always follow the instuctions given . So it is not a relaxing activity to erect a tent .
Nevertheless , it will worth the effort and time used to build the tent together after that because they can relax in it after the tiring activity .

In my experience , I have never erect a tent before but I once saw a group of people building a tent together near the beach at East Coast Park . It was a windy day that afternoon and I witnessed them struggling to upright the tent even though there are enough people to help . But without giving up and endless encouragement from the team members, they at last get to build the tent perfectly before it started to rain .

Qn 2 : Tell me about a holiday or a school trip that you have enjoyed .

I am not a sporty person but I would love to try rough activities.

I once went to a camp in 2014 during my school holiday organised by the Alfalah Mosque . The camp was held at Bintan for 4 days .
One of the activities I did was water rafting but before that , each group had to make their own raft . We are given a few long logs , raffia and barrels . Thankfully some of my group members had experienced building their own raft before . They helped and taught others to build it in the right way .

After building our own raft , we raced with other groups in the water to see who crosses the finishing line first . It is not an easy race as it is hard to push the raft while swimming . Moreover , we decided for the girls to sit on the barrels while the guys push the raft . We did not won but what's more important is what we learnt and the fun times we had .

Therefore , this is one of my favourite camp because I truly enjoyed the activities . This camp had taught me to be brave by overcoming my fears and many different challenges . I had also become more socialize after the camp because I don't usually have the courage to talk to new people. Apart from that , I had learnt about the importance of a teamwork , without my team members , the camp would not be fun and a memorable one . I am thankful to get to experience new activities and also environment and I am glad that we are still contacting each other up until now .

Qn 3 : Some people say we work too hard and do not take enough holidays . What is your opinion ?

In my opinion , holidays does not mean going overseas for a couple of weeks . Holiday can be spending time with family members while relaxing even in your own country . As long as we take a break to relax our mind from our school work or office work .

I don't usually go overseas during school holidays due to my parents busy working .However , we consider our weekends like our holiday because all of my family members are available in the weekends . We would spend time together by going to Johor to go shopping and eat or we would only spend time together in Singapore by visiting the beach or going to town .

Therefore I honestly think that if we manage our time wisely with work and resting time ,we would have enough holiday even for a short while and do not think that we worked too hard .

Qn 1 : Do you like shopping in markets like the one in the picture ? Why , or why not ?

This picture depicts a scene in a wet market with a caucasian lady in the middle holding 2 kinds of fruits in her hands while surrounded by groceries .

Yes I like to shop in such places which is the wet market . I usually accompanied my Grandmother to the wet market on weekends at Geylang Serai . The different between groceries shop such as the Giant or FairPrice compared to wet markets at Tekka or Geylang Serai is that the there are more quality food and great delas . The products are fresh than the groceries shop because wet markets has their opening and closing time . Unlike groceries shop , they will sell the meat or fish until it is all sold out for the day .

Besides that , most of the wet markets in Singapore has two storey building which they will be located at the ground floor while tailors , textile merchants , food stalls and other shops are located at the second floor for both Tekka and Geylang Serai .

Therefore , I'd love shopping in the Wet Market because there are more groceries and choices and they are'nt too pricey either but in fact much more cheaper compared to shopping at Giant . I would also enjoy visiting other shops and filled my empty stomach with delicious dish for my breakfast .

Other than that , we would not go in to look through the things to avoid overspend .

It is important to set a budget and not to bring all of our savings when we wanted to go shooping .
Qn 3 : 'In the future , we will not need shops or markets because most shopping would be done online.' What are your views ?

I agree that most shopping could be done online now because technology has been advancing in the world .

Most of the shops in the mall has their own online website for customers to purchase from home if they do not have time to visit the shop itself .For the website ,we can find almost all of their items in the stall sold in the website . Moreover , there are few description about the item for example the measurement of the clothes and the various type of design and colours . Therefore , purchasing the goods online and at the stall does not make a different

Apart from that , by purchasing online , there are free delivery to our doorstep . For some shops we would need to pay a certain amount for the shipment or registered mail if the seller says so . This is a good method to attract buyers to buy more items as they do not need to use their energy and time to go to the shop itself while carrying a lot of items . For example , my parents had bought groceries from Giant through online before when we moved to a new house . They will deliver it to our house . This avoid from carrying heavy loads of groceries and neccessity for our new home .

Moreover , if there are any sales going on , they do not need to rush to the stall and face the crowd to buy but to only order online and be the fastest fingers to purchase first.

However , I'd prefer going to the shop itself than to purchase it online . It is more satisfying for me than to buy online and wait for a few days in order for me to know if it turns out to be exactly how the picture shows .
