What? Where? How did the Incas build such perfectly cut stone walls without using mortar, with stones that fit together so firmly they have survived earthquakes?

What are the theories about it?

Possibly a royal estate, religious site, or astronomical observatory. Some suggest it was an agricultural experimentation center or a place of retreat for the Incan emperor.

What fascinates you about it?

I am fascinated by Machu Picchu because of his architecture and the way the Incas were able to build perfect stone structures without modern tools. The location is also breathtaking, and it’s amazing how the site was hidden for so long until it was discovered in the early 20th century.

What? Where? When?

Nazca lines are a group of hundreds of geoglyphs in the Nazca plateau, on the southern coast of Peru. Were drawing between 2nd century B.C. and 8th century A.D.

What’s the mistery?

The lines were drawn by removing small dark stones from the surface, so that the light sand underneath could be seen. But, what was the purpose of this drawings?

What are the theories about?

Some studies point to a big calendar. Other say they were roads. Some people even believe they were drawn by extraterrestial beings. But the more widespread hypothesis is that the Nazcas drew them for ceremonial purposes. They lived from the agriculture in the middle of the desert and water was important to them. Some kind of ceremonial would be essencial for their culture.

What fascinates you about it?

I wonder how those people reallly were able to draw that huge drawings in the desert. And, overall, why did they spend this effort to draw them?

What? Where? When?

The Fountain of the Fallen Angel is located in the well-known Retiro Park in Madrid. It was built in 1877 by the Madrid sculptor Ricardo Bellver.

What's the mystery?

This monument represents the expulsion of Lucifer from Heaven and its history is is related to the afterlife.

What are the theories about it?

The fountain is placed in a roundabout with 5 streets that form a pentangon known as the 'Morning Star' or an inverted pentagram (The Star of Tomorrow) which symbolizes Lucifer and curiously, that location is 666 meters above sea level. This number is of great interest to lovers of esotericism for being known as 'the number of the Beast'.

It also said that Retiro Park is a possible door to Hell intentionally.

What fascinantes you about it?

The Fountain of the Fallen Angel is a monument that has always caught my attention. For me it symbolizes rebellion, disobedience but at the same time it also symbolizes beauty and wisdom.

The earliest report of a strange water monster appears in an ancient text from the sixth century AD. This describes an encounter by the Irish monk Saint Columba who was staying in the near the mouth of the River Ness. Columba, upon hearing of a monster, thoughtfully sent one of his companions to test out the river. On seeing the monster, Columba made the sign of the cross and banished the creature to Loch Ness. The Inverness Courier carried a report of a monster sighted in Loch Ness in August 1933 by a water bailiff. Since this time, numerous sightings have been reported with the first purported photographs of the monster, taken by Hugh Gray in 1933 and by Surgeon,Robert Kenneth Wilson in1934. The mystery of Nessie has continued for decades and will continue to draw tourists to the shores of Loch Ness for years to come.

This work was created by Paloma González

What? Where? When?

Crop circles are circular designs of lying or burnt grass that appear in crop fields, usually of cereals. Most of them have appeared since the late 1970s, in fields in England.

What´s the mistery?

Fans and believers in paranormal phenomena attribute them to the intervention of extraterrestrial beings, specifically to UFO activity.

They describe the malfunctioning of some electrical devices, battery discharges, etc. They also point out the complexity of the geometric design or the supposedly unknown technology with which the circles are made.

What are the theories about it?

There is no evidence to confirm this last belief, and some that have been investigated have been shown to be the product of man's hand. Although farmers have expressed concern about the damage to their crops, interest in crop circles has led to bus and helicopter tours of the fields where they are found, as well as walking tours, T-shirt sales and book sales.

What fascinates you about it?

I am fascinated by these enormous circles, they seem like authentic works of art and I think they are an extra source of income for the area, as well as having a touch of mystery.
