Quote #1 Theme class difference

"On my right was a colossal affair by any standard- it was a factual imitation of some hotel de vile in Normandy, with a tower on one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool, and more than forty acres of lawn and garden."
"my house on the was an eyesore, "but it was a small eyesore, and it had been overlooked so I had a view of water, a partial view of my neighbor's lawn and consoling proximity of millionaires- all for eighty dollars a month"
The quote helps to show the class difference between the middle class/lower class (NIck) and the Rich upper class (Gatsby). The mansion of his is described as some Hotel de Ville, This is a French hotel that looks beautiful and magnificent. While Nick's house is described as an eye sore. Compared to the millionairess living all around him with homes ten times the size of his. This shows the class differnece between the two.
-Matthew Urrutia

The first theme that Gatsby's mansion relates to is emptiness and Gatsby shows that by filling his house with people weekly. And the second theme that Gatsby's mansion tries to show us is the love that Gatsby has for Daisy. He buys his house close to Daisy's house just across the bay just to be close to her. The mansion also helps Gatsby to show that he can take care of her and even better than Tom can. It also relates to the American dream of the American at that time. Gatsby's dream of winning Daisy back for Tom.
- Brian Tran

In one scene, Daisy is visiting Gatsby house, she says "I love it, but I don't see how you live there all alone". Gatsby says that he tries to fill his house with "celebrated people" every week. Gatsby saying that shows us that he is showing to Daisy that he is rich now. He has enough money to take of her just like or even more than Tom Does. The thing that Gatsby wants now is that Daisy would leave Tom and come to live with him. Every part of the house was designed based on her liking. He also shows Daisy all of his T-shirt just to show his rich. But no one really knows where he gets all his money from.
- Brian Tran
