El Neoclassicisme és un estil artístic inspirat en l'art clàssic (el grecoromà) i desenvolupat durant el segle XVIII i principis del XIX, com a reacció a les exageracions del Barroc i el Rococó.

Es va inspirar en l'ordre i l'equilibri de l'antiguitat. Es van establir tres característiques principals:
a)Aplicació estricta de la perspectiva lineal. 
b)Predomini del dibuix davant del color, utilitzant colors purs i l'ús d'una llum freda.
c)Predilecció de la temática del món clàssic, figures nues i continguts heròics i moralitzadors.
