The Bantu people are largely discriminated in politics and thus have retained ancestral social structures. They associate themselves with the place of residence, as opposed to their clans. These societies can be defined as a society with little to no authority power. Instead of a centralized hierarchy of government, family groups would balance power among them and constructed decisions together for the benefit of the society as a whole.

Batu migrants brought fourth many new skills  into the communities they encountered including growing crops, forging iron tools and weapons. The advanced Bantu culture made it possible for Africans to cultivate new ranges of land, spreading throughout rain forests, tropical desserts, and savanna grasslands. Today the majority of the population located in these regions are descendants from Bantu migrants.

These artworks can be described as abstract with a range of distinct approaches and techniques. Unfortunately a majority of the ancient art and architecture was made with perishable items therefore causing only very few to survive. The image above shows a the Lynderburg head, one of several sculptures from early Bantu-speaking peoples in southern Africa .
