Acrylic: Exploring Colours

I see different shades of blue, orange and green incorporated in this artwork. The strokes of blue illustrate the colour palette of the night sky, ocean and cities. These colours are inspired by numerous paintings and artwork that depict the essence of the night sky and how colours of yellow, orange, and white illustrate light. I think that the several shades of blue blend seamlessly to create a dreamy and tranquil atmosphere. The colour palette is inspired by Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh, which includes blues ranging from deep ultramarine to lighter cerulean and turquoise. I wonder how, in contrast to the dark blues, there are several areas of bright, almost electric blue in the painting. One of the most striking examples is the moon, which is depicted in a vivid, almost neon shade of blue that draws the viewer's eye to the centre of the painting. This blue echoes in other sky areas, such as the stars and the swirling clouds.

I see a night sky filled with stars, constellations and planets. I see textures in the clouds made by the Hartz brush as it makes it more realistic and naturalistic. I see the gradient in the background with splashes of purple and blue. I see shooting stars across the night sky, depicting the wonders and beauty of the night sky. I think of how to use the techniques I learned in my final art piece. I think of how I can use the blending brushes to merge the colours or how I can use the saturation icon to change to different colours.

I wonder if the people of this world found the beauty of accepting darkness and still seeing the light through the stars and constellations.

Acrylic: Ocean

I see an acrylic painting of the ocean under the night sky. I see vibrant and dynamic waves of blue, expressing a sense of movement and energy. I see different shades of blue, exploring the depth and shadows in the ocean. I see the highlights of light blue, possibly made by the moonlight. I think of how the ocean is essential in my world, as boats are used for exploration and navigation. The ocean is vital in allowing sailors to explore and gather knowledge of the stars and constellations from different parts of the world. How will the sailors deal with situations when the clouds cover the stars? They may use celestial technology made by professors and technicians. How does the future at the front of the boat contribute to their society? The figure may represent the professors and scholars researching the effective use of constellations as navigation devices and resources for humans. Additionally, I wonder if professors and scholars are well respected in society as they provide resources and knowledge.

I see a detailed watercolour painting of a man with a telescope. I see the dark and light tones of the painting, creating depth and shadows of the man and the surrounding environment. The telescope symbolises the aspiration and knowledge of sailors by finding and studying distant stars. I think of ways of incorporating this telescope into my final artwork. By illustrating a man looking through or with a telescope it represents the science and knowledge of my imaginary world and how humans found ways to adapt to these conditions by exploring the stars and constellations. The weather and atmospheric conditions will be much colder than in our world. It may be colder, and people will wear warmer clothing to keep themselves from freezing. Will people from different occupations use telescopes to check the stars? Is the telescope the first technological advancement created worldwide? I wonder if stars help mechanic telescopes and other technological advancements such as transportation.

As I explore different techniques in digital art, I see a big fluffy cloud in the middle of the page. It reminds me of Cumulus clouds that are formed before it starts raining. What different weather and atmospheric conditions will my world encounter? Would they have rain or hail? Would the world be colder than our world due to no solar radiation?

How will the sailors deal with situations when the clouds cover the stars? How are clouds made in this world? Is water vapour in the air condense without solar radiation? I wonder if the clouds are formed by ice crystals and form Cumulus clouds just like the ones that are formed during thunderstorms and cold fronts.

I see the blue and yellow tonal swifts from dark and mid tones to highlights. I see the darkest shades and lightest shades, creating a sense of depth and shadows to the round circle. I see a dynamic composition of a yellow circle which is a model of a light-powered streetlight that are found in the cities of my world. The streetlights is essential part of this world as it brings light to the towns and allows people to adapt to these conditions and get on with their daily lives. I think of how essential tonal swifts are to a painting as it gives realism and naturalness to the paintings. Additionally, I wonder how drawings are a continual process of discovery especially exploring tones as it builds a more realistic world. I wonder where I would I can use tonal swifts, maybe when I paint the city establishing the depth and realism to the buildings as the moonlight and streetlight hits the houses. Maybe I could use dark and mid tones for the ocean as the natural moonlight hits the waters.

Quick Sketch: Different Cities

In addition to building up the world, I see two quick sketches of the positioning of my imaginary world. I have positioned the cities in different corners of the page, added constellations for some of the sketches and added visible planets. Without the sun dominating the skies, other planets in the galaxy might dominate the skies, illuminating extra light to the world. The moon is prominent in the art piece as it is the closest to our planet. In this approach, I have attempted to capture a snapshot of my imaginary world, which explores different components such as navigation ships, a man looking with a telescope and a village styled by Greek architecture. I wonder about incorporating Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings and Mikko Eerola’s digital art style. I wanted to create a piece that captures the essence of a dreamlike imaginary world.

Quick Sketch: Mediterranean City

I see a quick sketch of a city influenced by old Mediterranean-styled houses on Santorini island over Caldera, Aegean Sea. I see houses in this town that are on a hill, similar to the Santorini island. I’m thinking of creating Mediterranean-styled houses, which feature high building densities with heavy materials such as stone, numerous openings on the facades and shading devices for openings. I think of how detailed the village will be with constellation patterns over the domes of the houses and having special streetlights powered by stars. The special streetlights are shaped like lanterns, similar to the structures of the Mediterranean houses. I wonder if the star-powered streetlight will be an efficient way to save and power energy. I wonder how people will adapt to these conditions, maybe by wearing warm clothes, as the world will be colder without sunlight. I wonder if they found the beauty of accepting the darkness and still seeing the light through the stars and constellations.
