The Unknown Substance was... Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin)

My reasoning for the unknown substance being aspirin is that the reactions are the same for all of the reactors for both substances. For example, when substances were tested with Indicator 1 (Water), they both bubbled. When the substances were tested with Indicator 2 (Iodine), they both bubbled a lot. When both substances were tested with Indicator 3 (Vinegar), they both bubbled a very lot. These results were not as closely related to any other

Blood

Who did the blood belong to?
I think the blood belonged to Alex or Anna. This is there are 4 blood types. There is Type A, which has a particular protein in it, Type B, which has a different particular protein, Type AB, which has both of the proteins in Type A and Type B, and last but not least, there is Type O, which does not have any proteins.

So after recieving this information, we needed to test all of the possible suspects' blood for a similar match. We tested the blood samples by using anti-A and anti-B serums which detected the particular protein in whatever type they correspond to.

Results:

Blood found at crime scene (type B)
-Clumping with type A serum - negative
-Clumping with type B serum- positive

Anna Garcia (type B)
-Clumping with type A serum- negative
-Clumping with type B serum- positive

Alex Garcia (type B)
-Clumping with type A serum- negative
-Clumping with type B serum- positive

Doug Greene (type AB)
-Clumping with type A serum- positive
-Clumping with type B serum- positive

Erica Piedmont (type O)
-Clumping with type A serum- negative
-Clumping with type B serum- negative

Lucy Effington (type O)
-Clumping with type A serum- negative
-Clumping with type B serum- negative

In conclusion, since Anna Garcia and Alex Garcia are the only ones out of the possible victims that have type B blood, the blood had to belong to either one of them , or someone not even on the possible suspect list, which probably is not what happened. From this point, we need to get more evidence, as blood cannot be the sole evidence to convict a suspect.

To identify fingerprints, we had to use information such as ridge patterns and minutiae.

Ridge Patterns:
-The ridge pattern category for Alex Garcia was a radial loop

-The ridge pattern category for Doug Greene was a plain arch

-The ridge pattern category for Eric Piedmont was a whorl

-The ridge pattern category for Lucy Effington was a radial loop

-The ridge pattern category for Anna Garcia was a whorl

-The ridge pattern category of the fingerprint found at the crime scene was a radial loop

In conclusion, the fingerprints had to belong to either Alex Garcia or Lucy Effington as both of them had a ridge pattern category of a radial loop. This could relate to the case, but could also just be a "red herring" where this evidence is not essential in the death of Anna Garcia. But then again, the evidence can be used to form a strong idea or theory.

Now from this, we can start using minutiae to identify the fingerprint using special marks only specific toward a particular person such as forks, double forks, dots, short ridges and etc.

Results: After comparing all the people on the suspect list, the person who seemed to have the exact fingerprint along with minutiae was Alex Garcia. This was because several features could be seen in both of the fingerprints; the one at the crime scene and Alex Garcia's fingerprint. Even though Lucy Effington had a radial loop, she did not have the same minutiae as the crime scene.

At the crime scene, a footprint was found. Then the bottom of the shoes of all of the possible suspects were also pictured. When determining whose shoe print it was, I noticed that the shoe print had a shape imprint that was also found on one of the possible suspects shoes. Along with this, if the picture of the person's shoe was rotated 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, the height toward the center of the shoe was higher off the ground while the rest of the shoe was on the ground. This would make the footprint have a missing gap in between the sole of the shoe and the front part of the shoe. The person whose shoes matched the footprint was Anna Garcia, which was determined using all the evidence above.

At the crime scene, we found Anna's Garcia's body. Afterwards, we needed to find the time in which Anna died. Using the glacier equation, we subtracted the measured temp, which was 92.4, from 98.4 and found that the difference was 6 Degrees Celsius. Then this must be divided by 1.5 to get the results that the body was approximately dead for four hours and the body was found at 11 AM. This shows that Anna Garcia died at 7 AM.

98.4 - 92.4 6 4
/ / /
1.5 1.5 1

4 Hours
