         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Summer Undergraduate Research Training (SMART) Program&nbsp;provides frontier-level, biomedical summer research projects for undergraduates in a supportive environment with supplemental educational activities.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>The official dates for the SMART Program 2026 are June 1 through July 31. The move-in date will be May 31 and move-out date will be Aug. 1.</strong></p><p>The program offers:</p><ul><li><p>Nine paid weeks of biomedically related research in a broad range of areas</p></li><li><p>Research and professional development seminars designed for undergraduates</p></li><li><p>Career development activities</p></li><li><p>Designated housing near Baylor College of Medicine</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p>The application for the 2026 program will open in October 2025.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The MSTP ACCESS Program aims to combat the decline in the physician-scientist workforce by expanding the pool of applicants applying to MD/PhD programs. MSTP ACCESS primarily recruits undergraduates from institutions classified as Carnegie R2 and below. The primary goal of ACCESS is to provide scholars:</p><ul><li><p>Exposure to physician-scientist career paths</p></li><li><p>Insight into the MSTP (MD/PhD) application process</p></li><li><p>Access to ongoing mentorship is available to students with limited research opportunities at their home institution (significant research experience is not required).</p></li></ul><p><strong>2026 program dates: May 26 – July 24, 2026</strong></p>]]></description>

The program focuses on increasing access and exposure to research experiences with faculty mentors for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in academic fields within the School of Education.
