And when I turned 21, they would fly to my country to get my skin permanently bleached like the movie stars so that I could be their version of beautiful. I bought into it and used whitening soaps and lotions they bought just for me when I was in elementary and middle school. My sisters were light-skinned enough. One time, I tanned from the sun walking home. Someone in my house told me I looked too dark, so I ran to the bathroom and cried and pulled at my face while I literally searched up ¨how to whiten skin quick free after tan.¨ I did them, some of which were a little dangerous now that I think about it. My homeroom teacher and math teacher isolated me from other students because of my race, and put me in different rooms to work on things that I had already done in the previous grade and had already known. I remember once I had finished taking a Map Test and obviously didn't end up getting the best results since I wasn't being taught the right curriculum, my math teacher shamed me and said "wow, that's sad, could've done better, very disappointed in you" and proceeded to give a nasty stare as I tried to hold back my tears.
