This picture was Taken during WWI on August 17, 1916, Days after canada joined the WWI. I am really worried about my father and uncle. They sent me letters talking about the trenches and how bad it was to be in one. He wrote " People are getting lots of infections, sick, and diseases. The most common infection was Trench foot and Trench Mouth. However, cousin Nati and his family were impacted by the blast even if we weren't. They had trouble even surviving for some time because their home and belongings were all crushed by the explosion. He described the war to us in 2 different words. He describes it as good and bad news for our family. He started with the bad news. He mentions that our uncle Jimmy was a breve men and a hero. He said that he sacrificed his self to save others around him. He jumped on top of a grenade to save our father and his friends that were present at the time the grenade was thrown by the Germans. Our uncle Jimmy was one of 10,600 soldiers that did not make it out alive of the battle Vimy Ridge. But, he also mentions the good news was that he made it out alive with a victory of the battle. We received some fantastic news about Canada winning the battle of Vimy Ridge today, May 1, 1917. Hearing about it made everyone feel so much better. But several of us, including my mom and my sister have been in a lot of pain from the loss of my uncle Jimmy, but I didn't know how to help them I just had to be there for them.


Me and my sister Abby has been trying to pass the time by doing activities for example, I have been playing games outside with my neighborhood friends, and my sister Abby has been drawing pictures of followers and buildings. 

This has been going on for a while at my house we just have been trying to pass the time. We are currently waiting for my dad and his friends to come back, I am so excited and also a lil sad because my Uncle won't be coming back with him, but on the bright side I get to ask him about everything he saw and experienced. I can ask him did he get in a tank, did he get to drive a plane, or a tank so much more I can't wait!!.

I and my family would gather around and watch him every 5 pm every Sunday and Monday. His movies are consistently hilarious, everyone in our family enjoys watching them. My father was working really hard on our family farm everyday since June 13, 1929. He would work day and night to provide for the family. We were struggling Because my parents put there trust in the trust market everyone did. My parents put there life savings in on investing in the stock market, hoping to make a profit; But unfortunately the market crashed which meant we lost all our money that we invested in stocks that we were hoping to make profit on. My family  had a really hard time during the Great Depression. The crops they grew didn't sell for much money, so we couldn't earn enough to support the family. Life has been hard for the past 3 years I don't know how I am still alive.

The first thing I want to say is that I am really grateful and thankful. I am thankful to God for being beside me at all times I was down there were times I wanted to end myself but I knew I had to keep pushing because I had a family to provide to. I remember when I and my family had no money, no food nothing because of a stupid mistake I made by investing every penny I had in the stock market. I put my family and I through hard times we would barely make money, and there would be days I did not even make no money. I remember skipping lunch and dinner so my kids would have something to eat and have energy. I would cry to God to help me get back on my feet. There were times we had to sleep outside because we did not have enough money to pay our rent. 

God heard us. After not giving up working hard every day after a hard 3 years me and my family are finally back on our feet we are financially stable now thanks to the lord himself. now me and my family don't have to worry about who eats today who eats tomorrow, do we have enough money or anything. I am finally stress-free. We are financially stable so I and my family would go out to help people who were still struggling to make ends meet. - Dawit (father)

During the Dieppe Raid. Canadians were directly involved in air combat almost from the start. My son always wanted to fly planes and had lots of interest in planes so he enlisted to fly planes in the war. Even tho we were hesitant we had to let our son do what he wants to do so we allowed him to go ahead and enlisted. When the time, World War 2 broke out because Canada entered the war voluntarily in September 1939 after realizing that Nazi Germany threatened to destroy Western civilization. The one at the bottom left is my son Isaac and his friends. He decided to enlist in the army for the second world war after watching his father and his uncle Jimmy fighting. He was motivated. His father David gave him some tips on what to do and what to do, what to look out for, and how to keep himself safe. His father was once a soldier in WWI so I wanted to give him some tips I wish someone gave to me when his father joined the Military. And they said that my brother has not been seen after this picture and they are looking for him every day, they are searching for every dead bead body that they can find and see if it is him".
