Lovely War carries a very serious and blunt tone throughout the book. One example is when Hades and Ares described what happened to Collete's loved ones on pages 120 and 121. They didn't really share any of there emotions, they simply described the events in a very blunt and serious manner.

Throughout the book, the author evoked emotions of love and hopelessness. This is particularly shown in pages 115 through 122, as the Gods and Godesses describe Collette and Stephanes love as it's followed by Stephanes death and Collette's sadness.

Aphrodite, the goddess of love. "I'm the source of love...but no one will ever truly love me. The fountain of passion, but I will never truly know a true passion of my own." As the goddess of love, Aphrodite thinks highly of herself but deep down, she's really just a girl thirsting for what she helps others receive. Her true motive and role throughout the story is to describe what it truly means to love, to her husband that knows nothing of the sort.

I would give lovely war 5 stars because of how beautiful the writing is. The author can write so well and has a knack for making the reader feel the characters true emotion. A quote that demonstrates this is, "I'm the source of love but no one will ever truly love me. The fountain of passion, but I will never know a true passion of my own." - Aphrodite page 12
