In this stage the infant that is totally dependent on another person for every need. If the infant feels safe and secure then they are trusting of the caregiver. If the infant does not feel safe and secure then they will view the world and others with greater anxiety, fear, and mistrust.

"In these early months, babies need to develop a balance between trust, which lets them form intimate relationships, and mistrust, which enables them to protect themselves."

In this stage I don't remember much about what I did but I was talking with my mom and she was explaining that I knew what to expect with someone always being there by me and taking care of me. I had trust in my family members to be there and they were always there and did not give me a reason to not trust them with my basic needs.

I resolved this stage with trust by knowing my family was there when I needed them and took care of my basic needs.

In this stage the child begins to find their own independence, verbal skills, and wanting to chose things themselves. This is also usually the age where they learn potty training and gain independence of being able to go on their own. If this stage is successfully completed the child will be secure in their abilities to do things. Children who are restricted from learning their own independence will have feelings of self doubt.

"As children are better able to make their wishes understood, they become more powerful and independent."

In this stage I do not have many memories but I was looking at old scrapbooks of this age and I was potty training. I do remember going to the holiday train and always having to check out all of the bathrooms. I also was trying to copy and do everything my parents were doing with doing the dishes and "working" on my own desk. I also LOVED Elmo so I had a photoshoot with him and knew what I liked and had independence.

I resolved this stage with autonomy by knowing what I liked to do and who I liked by myself with out other influences telling me.

In this stage children are in their preschool years preparing themselves to go to school in the next years. This stage involves learning to interact socially, playing with others, and learning how to make right vs wrong decisions from others their own age and those who are older. They are learning more about themselves of what they enjoy and find interest in. If a parent is controlling and not supporting independence or interactions with others the child could lack initiative and ambition and be filled with guilt.

"in which children balance the urge to pursue goals with reservations about doing so."

In this stage I was in preschool and learned what I liked with being outside and being very active. I started soccer, bike riding at these ages that kept me active and always on the go. I was in Sunday school with other kids my age interacting with them and at preschool meeting new friends and other kids my age. I was learning how to make right and wrong choices in school and when I was riding my bike on what would happen if I made this choice or this choice.

I resolved this stage with initiative by learning how to play with other kids and being involved with activities to keep me as active as I already was.

In this stage children are school age learning new skills and are aware of more and different people around them at school and outside of school. They also may start comparing themselves to others to determine what they are good at or need to improve on. They develop feelings of pride and accomplishment. If a child succeed the child feels like they can set goals and achieve them in the future. If a child has too many negative experiences they may develop feeling of inferiority.

"in which children must learn the productive skills their culture requires or else face feelings of inferiority."

In this stage I have more memories with being older and being in my early school years. I was learning what subjects I enjoyed with liking math and loving gym class. I was involved in many different sports to get a feel for what I enjoyed and wanted to be involved with. I was helping cleaning in the house and learned how to help my parents with things around the house. I developed confidence by doing well in school and playing sports and being involved with 4-H and playing with friends.

I resolved this stage with industry by building up my confidence with getting good grades in school and going to the fair with my 4-H projects and winning ribbons.

In this stage and individual moves from being a younger child to being an adolescent. The main focus of this stage is developing a sense of self, including their own beliefs, goals, and values. They explore different ideas, roles, and what they want to do with life. If a child is able to grow and learn in their own sense of self or self understanding then they will have a clearer picture of their future. If they don't develop a sense of self then they may conform to others values and beliefs and have confusion.

"in which an adolescent seeks to develop a coherent sense of self, including the role she or he is to play in society. Also called identity versus role confusion."

In this stage I remember being in school and involved with sports and clubs in school and outside of school. I was learning in school and outside of school what I believed in and what roles I had in school and at the house. I was developing my sense of self by knowing what I believed in with going to church and having communion. I also developed my sense of self by knowing my sexuality and gender. I knew my roles in the house of what I had to do compared to everyone else and how that would help others and society.

I resolved this stage by identity because I developed my sense of self in what I believed, what my roles were and how they helped others and my ideas of what I wanted and don't want.

In this stage the early adult develops long term relationships that are loving and safe, and learns to share their lives with others. This stage is less focused on themselves and how they can give and love others. If somebody does not feel this loving relationship they will experience more loneliness and depression.

"According to Erikson, a man is not capable of real intimacy until after he has achieved a stable identity, whereas women define themselves through marriage and motherhood."

This is the stage I am currently in with being 19 years old. So far in this stage I am in a 3 year relationship with my boyfriend. I have lots of loving relationships with my family and siblings and my boyfriend. I hope to continue this throughout this stage and keep those loving and caring relationships with my own family of when I become a mother and a wife.

I have not resolved this stage I am still currently in this stage. I hope to resolve it with being in intimacy with loving and caring relationships.

In this stage adults are raising their children, feel the need to give to others, and contributing to a better society. Being successful is a sense of knowing that you are needed in your family, community, and workplace. If positive feedback is not given or frustrated in this stage they may feel less connected with others, success with raising a family and at work.

"Mature adult is concerned with establishing and guiding the next generation or else feels personal impoverishment."

I have not gotten to this stage yet in my life, I hope to raise a family and doing new things and being involved with others. I also hope to be employed somewhere that I enjoy and helping others in every way I can.

I have not resolved this stage yet but I hope to with generativity with raising a family and being married and having kids and animals.

In this stage adults are reflecting on their own lives, often times people are retired and have slowed down and looked back on what they have achieved in their lifetime so far. In this stage people who are proud of what they have accomplished generally experience good satisfaction are satisfied with their life. Those that have feelings of loss and regret will show more dissatisfaction or depression. This is the one stage that Erikson says that people can go back and forth with feeling satisfied and feeling unsatisfied.

"Elderly person achieves acceptance of own life, allowing acceptance of death, or else despairs over inability to relive life."

I have not yet reached this stage of my life but when I do I hope, I am proud of what I have done and wouldn’t want to change everything in my life. I also think that I will be in despair about some choices that I regret.

I have not resolved this stage yet but I went with ego integrity because I hope to enjoy and like the choices I made in my life and not regret everything I did and be happy. I also would chose despair because Erikson said people go back and forth with regretting some of the choices in their lifetime.
