Topic sentence: One way that Douglass supports his position to end slavery is that he uses lots of figurative language.
Quote 1: "and
at saving-fodder time, midnight often caught us in the field binding blades." They were worked to hard Ex. 4 P. 2
Quote 2: "there stood slavery, a stern reality, glaring
frightfully upon us,—its robes already crimsoned with the blood
of millions, and even now feasting itself greedily upon our own
flesh." Ex 5 P. 1

Topic Sentence: Douglass uses multiple ways to help support his position to end slavery like, Figurative language, how slavery is terrible for slaves, and how slavery corrupts slave holders.

Why people need to understand it: People need to understand why slavery is so important and why it should be abolished. Slavery is now illegal, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't happen. All over the place people are still using slavery secretively even though it is illegal.
