Free African-American known as the "Black Edison".

He Received little schooling, having a variety of jobs, taking courses on engineering and electricity .

He later set up his own company called Woods Electric CO. ; developing, manufacturing and selling electrical apparatus.

    This quote of Granville T. Woods has a lot of meaning to it because, growing up, he had very little schooling and being an African-American during the time was still harsh. He took on so many different jobs, realizing that engineering and electricity held the key to the future. He defeated Thomas Edison's lawsuit that challenged his patent and made one of his most important inventions, the multiplex telegraph.
