What is their objective/mission?

The Stand Against Racism™ is a movement of the YWCA with the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life - across the country - to raise awareness that racism still exists.

The methodology of the Stand Against Racism™ is to bring together like-minded organizations that share in our vision of eliminating racism and celebrating the richness of diversity. By inviting community organizations to partner with us, we maximize the outreach of this mission, attracting hundreds of thousands of participants.

Through our annual event, which takes place the last Friday of each April, and our Community Cohesion program, the YWCA's Stand Against Racism™ addresses the root causes of racism and encourages conversations across diverse communities in the USA.

What strategies /programs/projects are they using to meet this objective?

In 2007 the YWCA Trenton and the YWCA Princeton in New Jersey joined forces because we wanted to bring people together from all walks of life - people of different economic backgrounds, people of different races and culture - to focus on common concerns and mutually beneficial opportunities that affect the quality of life in our communities. In 2012, well over a quarter million people took a Stand Against Racism™.

Why are these strategies effective or ineffective?

Because the YWCA stands for the right of individuals to be treated with dignity and respect, we believe that the key to effecting real change is to engage individuals and whole communities in a conversation about the issues. Only then can we open our hearts and minds to new perspectives and the richness of diversity.

The Stand Against Racism™ movement is becoming a large and powerful demonstration across our country of hundreds of thousands of individuals that believe in a society free of racism.

Join us. Take a stand. If you are a group, host a Stand. If you are an individual, join a Participating Site.

What is our objective?
Our objective is to put an end to racism and help those who aren't treated with respect and dignity, because

every individual deserves that. We try to help those people who suffer from being assaulted and bullied by their

skin color and their looks, and to bring people of all nations together, to work and live together and to fully respect each other.

What strategies/programs/projects are we using to meet this objective?

We accept donations from all over the world, and put that money into our organization to help those who are stuck in a situation where they don't know where to get help from. We travel to different countries of the world where people are stuck in these situations, and we try to help them get out. Any volunteer work is highly appreciated.

How are these Strategies effective?

The quantity of volunteers and workers is growing constantly and getting more powerful, and more and more people are standing against racism.

What is their objective/mission?\

Working with young people to promote respect for differences, in order to foster an environment free of discrimination and bullying.

What strategies/programs/projects are they using to meet this objective?

Our work aims to raise awareness among youth about their roles and responsibilities in the face of intolerance in their schools and communities. We also provide students with tools to encourage them to pass from theory to action, placing value on youth engagement and encouraging student-lead initiatives. Our activities incite young people to reflect on and share their opinions.

Why are these strategies effective or ineffective?

Students are guided into recognizing the prevalent prejudices and stereotypes that exist in their environments and developing projects that can help make their schools and communities more open, respectful and safe. Empathy, assertion, solidarity and respect are the principal values we aim to transmit to youth.
