These organ recitals are always lovely. The main hall of Kelvingrove Museum really fills up with people (often lots of children dancing! ) and the organists usually play a mixture of traditional organ music and fun arrangements of film scores, and at Christmas various festive carols or tunes. This could be perfect for researchers in Glasgow alone over the holiday period looking for a low stakes sense of community, friendly faces, and an excellent heat for free in a shared space. Rectials are on every day at 1 and on weekend days sometimes also at 3.

Turner watercolours that are only on display in Jan: 'Scotland’s famous collection of Turner watercolours was left to the nation by the great art collector Henry Vaughan in 1900. Since then, following Vaughan’s strict guidelines, they have only ever been displayed during the month of January, when natural light levels are at their lowest. Because of this, these watercolours still possess a freshness and an intensity of colour, almost 200 years since they were originally created.'

And if you don't understand Korean, it's also great because you can't be distracted by ALL THE THINGS while you watch - really great for just shutting off and unwinding.

My pup Whisky thinks there's nothing better than lounging in front of the (fake) fire whilst mum binge watches Hallmark Christmas movies (you know the ones...predictable plot line usually involving some career-minded woman who returns to her small hometown to rescue her family business and falls in love with her high school boyfriend/local handyman/childhood nemesis). They are great movies for just turning off your brain...and there are some pretty great drinking games that you can play whilst watching with friends. :-)
