Students can use technology in many ways to advance their abilities. There are so many positive ways that technology can affect a child's life. When becoming an empowered learner they are using tech to seek feedback which improves their practice of the tool. The tool itself will not teach the children so bridging the gap between device and instruction time is important. In 5 years I want to remember how important it is to continue to pursue education as a teacher so I can send out into the world innovators, creative thinkers, problem solvers, global collaborators and so much more.

Technology can be used in a multitude of ways to positively impact the school system and students' success. Through the use of active technology, students will gain many new skills and abilities that they can apply to their learning. The ISTE Standards website shows us seven main sections and ways to transform student learning through technology. One particular section that stood out to me was the "Creative Communicator" section. In this section, we learn that students get to choose their own tools to meet their desired goals, they get to create new work through media, communicate complex ideas, and customize their message or assignment in their own way. I find this very fascinating and definitely something I want to remember five years from now. When I am teaching, I want my students to explore their creative side as much as possible and not feel tied down to any one assignment or media outlet. I hope to use all of the ideas from the "Creative Communicator" five years from now in my classroom!

I want to remember that the ISTE student standards are not as daunting as they may seem. It is not something that adds more to a teachers plate it is used to expand the students learning and be a useful tool for the teacher. One thing I want to remember in 5 years from now from to ISTE Standards for Students is 7 ways and how I can provide these ways into physical education class. For example, having students being empowered by learning by possibility creating an online fitness program for the students to be able to teach their fitness patterns. Another example for knowledge constructor, would be to give these students online resources to be able to create or have a guideline for an online fitness plans or nutrition plan. I think this is very valuable for students in PE to not just giving them fitness inside school but giving them options to have the chance to create or have a guideline to create their own fitness plans. I think this is very important and I want to remember in 5 years to incorporate into my physical education classes.

One significant thing that I took away from the ISTE Student Standards (and that I feel will be beneficial to remember in five years) is that these standards are not a list to check off, but instead should be viewed more as a guide to help both students and educators. Also, that these standards are not only for assessment purposes, but also to help students grow into successful, engaged learners. Additionally, these standards will help add more resources, such as technology, into the classroom. This will give students wider opportunities such as those of which were mentioned in class; media production, peer engagement, global connections, etc. As a future educator I hope to develop independent, engaged learners and these standards seemingly will help me have the basis for doing that in the classroom.

One thing I want to remember 5 years from now is the ISTE standard that states students are responsible for their learning. In a perfect world we can give them unlimited access to learning materials and software but if a student chooses to not apply those learnings and instead just regurgitate information then we have not done our jobs. While it is a students job to take control over their learning it is also my job as an educator to incorporate purposeful assignments that will engage my students and allow them to apply what they have learned. Instead of solely focusing on having technology teach my students I need to also understand how I can incorporate technology while also keeping them on task and learning.

One thing that I found useful and important from the ISTE standards is technology. It is your responsibility to help the child but you can only do so much, some kids don't want to be helped.
