In 1914 he was an orphan and lived in a hotel by himself. He was very poor and tried to make money by selling newspapers. Hitler tries to fight in the Great War by enlisting in the Austro-Hungarian Army but is rejected, but is accepted in the German Army. Hitler was almost shot by a British soldier holding him at gunpoint but the British Soldier had a heart and let him go. Hitler was disappointed that the Central Powers lost the war.
