My most precious possession in probably my typewriter.
My grandfather gave it to my mother when she was in middle school. Years later, right before leaving for university, my grandmother gave it to me.
I’ve always been fond of writing and I saw this as a first step towards my dream.

This is a turquoise and gold brooch. It’s shaped like a bunch of grapes, so it’s a little weird for the modern taste, but it was given to me by my grandmother when I was little and I’m particularly fond of it

Something that is near and dear to my heart is my Mom's "mother's ring".

I come from a large family of six siblings. We bought this ring for our mother on her birthday when I was around 15 years old, and from the day we gave it to her as a gift, to the day she passed away, she never took it off her finger. Although many of her children moved away from home (to other states or countries) we were always close to her heart. This ring reminded her of us, no matter where we were.

I inherited this ring, and it brings back many fond memories of my mother, who wore it with such joy, and of my brothers and sisters who I left behind in the US when I moved to Italy. Each stone, Topaz, Ruby, Emerald, Garnet and two Saphire stones, represent the month that each of us were born (birthstones). Its value, to me, is not the cost of the ring, but in what it represents.

I was given this Turkish evil eye at one of my first EALTA conferences and have carried it in my purse ever since. The lady who gave me it, a colleague then and now a friend, told me that every Turkish person has one. They either carry it around with them or display it in their home. I asked her if Turkish people really believe that the evil eye wards off bad luck and she just shrugged her shoulders and told me that “it doesn’t matter whether it works or not, it just needs to be there, and much like a child clings to a comfort blanket, the (evil eye) Nazar Boncuğu provides peace of mind”. She also told me that when an evil eye cracks, it has done its job of protecting you and this belief dates back to the origins of the Nazar Boncuğu! My Nazar Boncuğu hasn’t cracked yet and funny enough I feel uncomfortable if for whatever reason I don’t see it in my purse, I just feel it has to be there!

This is my wedding bouquet... or, better, what's left of it after 7 years! I know it's just a bunch of "dust-catching" dried flowers and is not at all nice to see, but I think Iwill never be able to throw it away. It reminds me of one of the most beautiful days I've ever lived, with my husband who is my love and my best friend, surrounded by our families and friends who were truly happy for us. That day was full of joy, and hugs, and kisses, and it is one of my dearest memories.
Then I had two kids, but this is another story... :-)

This is definitely my most precious possession; it's a mug. I bought it on my honeymoon during a fantastic trip to North Cape. I've dreamt of reaching North Cape since I was a child when I saw some pictures in the geography book. This simple object is very important to me for everything it represents. It reminds me of really special moments.

This is a type of scroll picture that is now hanging in my new office, at home. I'm completely unaware of what is written in the top-right corner but I guess it's most likely a date. I love the way the horses appear to be galloping towards me, in total freedom. It's rather old, as it was once hanging in sister's bedroom many many years ago when we used to spend our time with horses and it's precious because it's one of the very few items that I've kept from those days.

While I was reading your beautiful posts, I just made a picture of my mum's most precious ring. She passed away seven years ago and the saddest thing is that she never used this ring, always kept it in the safe!
When I inherited her precious possessions I decided to use them every day, there's also a song going like "diamonds are the girls' best friends", I don't believe it, but I like having something that reminds me of my dear mum

The most precious possession is definitely my collection of Shakespeare's works! I have bought books, dvds, everything concerning the Bard. This is my little inheritance! I always try to make my students falling in love with English literature!

It's a piece of fine porcelain a couple of traveler companions gave to me during my trip to China years ago. It reminds me not only of the amazing days spent in China with a group of teachers but also of my graduation: this trip was the extraordinary gift I received from my parents for my degree.

I was given this mug from one of my classes, last year at the end of the school. I love it because they prepared the mug exactly for me with that error! (Gudmorning) It's precious because it remembers me them and because it was well personalized! They have been excellent students for all the three years at the middle school.

This is called Gau. I’ve bought it in Mustang, a place near Tibet in Nepal. The deity inside it proctects travellers from the dangers they might meet. It dates back to the 18th century, it protected the merchands from Tibet during their long journey to Nepal. I’m trying to become a traveller, but I think I’m still a tourist. Next time I’ll travel with my Gau.

This stone is especially meaningful to me. I received it from my sister many years ago after a visit to Medjugorje in Bosnia. What makes this gift special is not only the holy place where it was collected but also that she prayed there for me. Everytime I touch it I feel stronger.

Oak trees

I can't think of possession...my treasures are the trees there are near my country house. They are very precious in every moment of my life. Some of them are really old and huge. I like staring at them in different seasons, for hours. In late fall they seem talking to you in a special way with colorful leaves. Oak trees are the oldest ones. When i feel sad or anxious I walk into the wood and I can find a solution or help. Even if I am far away I can think of them and it makes me feel safe, like in a cozy place.

Most people think that the Net is a "dangerous" place and that is sometimes true but the opportunities that it provides are UN-limited. Only some years ago it was nearly impossible to browse authentic materials while today we have access to free and inclusive ones to improve as teachers and learners.

This is a very precious photo for me. I took it during a whalewatching excursion in Boston Mass. I stayed in Boston for 2 weeks in 2017 with a group of students of mine at a university college for an English American language course. I have always taken students to courses in UK, Ireland and USA but this was really special. I miss these experiences so much...

I haven't got a personal important object, but as someone else in the group has already written, the Net is my favourite place. It allows to go evrywhere, to have free access to any kind of info, curiousity, image...I think it is a great thing and opportunity. It can be dangerous as everything else that you can use not correctly or excessively.

My precious object is a birthday card I received from my daughter. She was quite little when she gave it to me. She still didn’t have any pocket money to buy something, so she made this card . This is a picture of me taking my second Dan Aikido exam in 2005in La Spezia.
I had to stop practicing Aikido in 2008 because of my pregnancy and then I had to move to a city where I wasn't able to find an Aikido master I liked. I wanted to share it because Aikido is such a wonderful martial art and I miss it so much. This picture reminds me of one of my dearest moment.

3 porcelain animals

These 3 small animals belonged to my late grandmother: I think she received them as a gift from one of her friends but I do remember that I looked at them every time I went to her apartment. So when she died I decided to bring them home. They are not that great nor special, but they are dear to me as they remind me of my beloved granny.

This is my grandfather's pocket watch. I've never met him; my dad's never met him too. He passed when he was only 36, exactly on the 2nd of February 1940. Even if I couldn't meet him I love him so much.

This is a kind of a tapestry (goblen) handmade by my mum. I've always been particularly attached to it, I think it's cause my mum made it when I first moved out (to go to the UK) and gave it to me when I married and moved to Italy.
Many years later I found out that it's a copy of a painting by an Italian painter Filippo Palizzi and it's called "Girl on the rock in Sorrento".

On the edge of the cliff there is an inscription:

"He, who asked me to lie on this rock, telling me to watch you from morning to night and always tell you: be happy.Felice".
It's something my mum would have said, too.

My father's girlfriend at that time was my mother, of course. Later on they married and lived together happily, had nine children. But then he suddenly died by heart attack, when I was about seven. There's not that much i remember about him, but I have this painting and it's quite precious to me, also because Monte Faito is the beautiful mountain where my family used to have picnics at the weekends.

This is definitely my favourite book. It brings me back to the sweet memories of my first year at University: Ca' Foscari in Venice. At that time I didn't have any knowledge of Spanish language or literature. A friend of mine, very fond of Spanish, brought me to a lecture. It was love at first sight: at the very moment the professors started to speak in Spanish, and of this book in particular, I was completely enchanted. As soon as possible I moved to Spain for an Erasmus project becoming a fluent Spanish speaker. It goes without saying that I've read all the further books published by the author, who is still my favourite novelist. Having this book in my bookcase always reminds me of those years!

My favourite ring

This is the ring my husband gave to me when we discovered I was pregnant. Three stones, just like the three of us. Some years later we had another baby, so my daughter changed the meaning of this ring: the three stones represented her, her brother and I, all held together by my husband. It is not an expensive ring, but it is the most important to my heart.

This is my favourite jewel, my father brought me it from South America, he went there for work. It is a gold nugget, it gives me the perception of something very simple, but authentic, something strongly connected to earth.

Guinness beer magnet

That's one of the things I care about more. It's a magnet I bought at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin during a trip in 2010. At that time I was one of the Italian foreign language assistants in Edinburgh and I made some new friends there, namely Silvia from Rome and Han from Taiwan. We went to Dublin together for a weekend and we visited the Guinness Storehouse. We had a wonderful time!

This football t-shirt by Christian Vieri is very special to me, I bought it, for a few euros, in 2003 from a street market in Italy, it's made of very poor and cheap material, but I've liked it since I've seen it. It's very important to me because I wore it on the evening of the FIFA football World Cup final in Berlin, inside the Olympiastadion on the evening of 9 July 2006, it was an unforgettable match, I realized my dream of seeing my national team, Italy win the World Cup for the 4th times in the history.
That evening it was not my intention to wear Vieri's shirt but my Italian national team shirt was wet and dirty and i choose at the last minute to use "32" Vieri's Shirt and this brought me luck.
