Very poor Haitians resort to eating mud cookies; made of dirt, butter, and salt. Because of the increased prices on food imports, majority of the Haiti population decide to eat mud. Since Haiti is one of the poorest countries with over 80% living in poverty, they become desperate for food, thus creating food for survival. Dirt to make 100 cookies now costs $5, 5 cents a piece.

The weather can be very inconsistent. At any time there can be either a drought or a flood depending on the rain. If there is too little rain and all the water is soaked into the earth, there will be a drought. If the rain is to constant the water will overflow the earth and cause a flood. These can cause many issues like dehydration or the ruining of homes through floods. Droughts can cause dust bowls which lead to the healthy soil being tossed around leaving worse dirt that can not grow the crops. Also, A cyclone just hit Africa that is still effecting it. There is flooding that is king peoples homes and everything they own. Some people got their lives even taken from them during this flood. Flooding and droughts have still been a major issue.

Greenhouse Gas Emission: America vs. Europe (Sofia)

Greenhouse gas emissions in the United States are continuing to increase. Despite how throughout the past decade, the trend of emission has both risen and declined, in 2018, greenhouse gas emission rose by 3.4%, and 2019 is expected to have similar trends. Due to this spike, the US emitted over 70 billion metric tons of Greenhouse Gases in 2018, and the amount will likely be the same at the end of this year. Instead of tackling the problem, we are ignoring it and letting the environment take significant damage.

However, many countries in Europe have a different mindset about this issue, particularly Sweden. Specifically, in order to limit greenhouse gas production, “…companies that produce greenhouse gas emission are now required to obtain permits and report their emission levels, and those who are obliged to do so have been deemed to have operations with a heavy environmental impact due to emissions of hazardous substances to air and water." These regulations have had extremely positive effects on both the environment and the economy. By instructing that industries report their emission levels, the government ensures that no industry is releasing too much gas for the environment to handle. Additionally, the lack of pollution allows them to establish a balanced system in which each company is only producing as much as they absolutely have to, which causes the industrial areas of Sweden to automatically decrease in pollution and obtain better air quality. This ultimately benefits the nature and people mutually, which grants an innumerable amount of individuals with their justified rights to a clean world. While greenhouse gas emission has fallen by 16% in absolute numbers from 1990 to 2011, even after eliminating many factories and sources of greenhouse gas, the Swedish economy did not decline, as economic growth has actually increased by 60% since 1990. Despite that fewer industries are able to synthesize materials in the usual way, employment rates and the manufactured resource production still remain stable, so the economy has actually been positively impacted, and more importantly, the environment is benefitting as well.

http://www.swedishepa.se/State-of-the-environment/Data-databases-and-applications/The-Swedish-PRTR/

http://www.government.se/legal-documents/2014/05/ds-201411/

https://online.salempress.com/articleDetails.do?bookId=700&articleName=EnvIs_156646701566&searchText=Iceland%20environment&searchOperators=any&category=Science

Overall, this results in a 65% reduction in water levels. Other factors include increased diversion for irrigated agriculture, reduced rainfall, the building of dams over the lakes surface. Solutions include advancing water conservation in communities, and preventing dams from being constructed.

Some tips include creating a defensible space around your home, using fire-resistant plants, removing dead plants that could fuel fire, and many more. On average 7 people die every day due to home fires, mainly children and elderly, 36 suffer injuries, and over$7 billion in property damage occurs every year.

Inspired by a television series, my solution is one to excess in the deer population, specifically in the suburbs. Deer management is a massive issue in our local areas, yet we lack the resources to tackle this issue. In our FLOW area, there are no wildlife or game services, and very often, animal control is to busy to bother with the deer issues we face daily. With the overpopulation of deer in our area, this brings about many problems in our communities, such as an increase in Lyme disease, car collisions, and landscape degradation. To protect our plants and people, I wanted to create a service that would relieve our communities of our deer problem with a service that could be hired out to private residents exterminating deer. A television show a couple of years back presented this idea, in local suburbs of Texas that would allow this company to come to private residence to remove deer. Bringing this to our local area would solve our deer problem and all of the meat collected would be donated to soup kitchens and food banks.

How we can do this is through many ways like turning off the faucets when one is done using the water and unplugging devices even when the appliance is turned to conserve energy. Even through these small ways they can help the big picture.

One of the main environmental issues today is the problem of the increased waste production in the world. The average person produces 4.3 pounds of waste per day, and the United States produces about 220 million tons per year. All of this waste ends up in landfills, thus creating large amounts of methane. Some ways to reduce this landfill waste is to donate clothes, recycle, use less packaging, reuse, and simply don't buy as much stuff.

So they inhale chemicals and kill themselves. To stop this farmers have to be more aware about their farm and the life of it. Always taking care of it, spraying the right chemicals for pests, etc.. And their investment decisions should be better if they are not making any money from their crops.
