Hi everybody!

I’m Roberta, I’m a teacher in a primary school in Turin.

I have been teaching in this order of school from 2001, nevertheless , this is the First time that I teach in a First Class.

My class is composed by 22 students and 8 of them are foreigners (only one was born abroad while the other had one or both parents born in another country.

So in my classroom there are: 3 Romanian, 1 Albanian, 1 Russian, 1 Peruvian, 1 Maroccan and 1 Brasilian students.

My school is in Turin’s periphery that is mutietnic and offer us a lot of activities (cultural and sportive).

I am a psychotherapist, I’m married and I have got two children too.

I like my job, I like it very much. I love it because I think that everyday can be an occasion to learn something because everyone may teach something to others. So, everyday I have 22 teachers! I’m so lucky!

I like to use tecnology and fantasy during my lessons, but I belive that the most important teaching method is a serene atmosphere where everyone can be himself, increase their self-esteem. For all of these reason, I belive in the importance of enchance own origins, own culture and, consequently, own uniqueness.

I agree with Alicia, Erika and Tomislav ‘s opinion.

I strongly believe in sharing as a synonymous of mutual respect. School must be an harbinger of society and must be a place, THE PLACE, where everybody can be himself and increase his self-esteem. Psychologic studies show that humans find, know, explore and valorize themself only between the relationship with their “caregiver”, peer and the enviroment too. Only between social life, women and men can discover who they are. Everybody is unique, even twins are unique too. Our culture, our background is what differentiates us. Each of us is the result of our family story and our citizen story. But if someone watches and compares the histories of peoples discovers that they are very similar. So, actually, what differentiates us is what joint us.

School must teach its. Dialogue and cooperation are the most important instruments that can realize it. Through the use of thecnologies too, physical and ideological distances will reduced.

She is the tirth of five daughters. Her older sister is disabled. Her father often works alone and her mother is an housewife. I didn’t understand if depend of their culture or of their family situations but she is often “left alone”: she is neglected, she doesn’t do homeworks, sometimes she hasn’t got school supplies/educational material, rarely her parents partecipated in the educational life. Sometimes I don’t know how I can help her. When she is at school has a dual attitude: or works very well or doesn’t work at all.

In these cases I don’t know what I can do because if, humanly, I am close to her, from an educational point of view (for her and her companions) I can’t let her do no tabide by the school rules

The causes are necessary to search in the organisation of the school and the characteristics of present society.
The italian primary statal schools are not very much equipped to face this theme (there are bi many spaces in which to do conversation, activity and laboratories) and there isn't wide cultural tradition as to then very much it depends on the good will and on the spirit of initiative of the teachers.
