- Defend the nation: Whenever there is a threat to the nation, it is vital to have a strong group of people to defend the nation. All men 18-25 years of age must register for the selective service.
- Serve in court: As a witness or as a juror. Jurors help in the maintenance of law and order and uphold justice on their fellow citizens. Witnesses help explain a crime they saw by being asked several questions by a judge.
- Go to school: It's important to go to school to get an education and to be successful for the future. There are still 150,000 customers without power and duke energy employers are doing everything to fix it. Even though many are missing their family they said they aren't leaving until they get the job done
Community: A group of 300 teens from across the county spent a week helping others with low income on repairs on their homes. The teens partnered with the Wilmington Area Building Ministry, also known as WARM, and did 8,430 hours of volunteering. One woman said that if the kind teens didn't repair her home that she would've had to move and she was very grateful that they helped her with the damages.

School: Salvation Army In Wilmington NC are on there way to Florida to help pick up the pieces after  Hurricane Irma. Many of the volunteers are willing to help and won't stop until they have made a difference because many of them know what the people in Florida are dealing with. They will provide a hot meal, water and other supplies to anyone that was affected by Hurricane Irma.
United States: Mariuma Ben Yosef was homeless when she was only 14 years old and lived on the streets of Boston. She wanted to help other kids who were experiencing the same  struggles that she faced when she was a teen. She first started by giving them weekly dinners but she then as she went on helping these kids, she was then giving them a place to stay. The organization that she runs  is the Shanti House and it has helped over 46,000 children today.
