Choose a film genre that you like.
If you like action films, watch an action film - for example, Indiana Jones. If you prefer comedies, watch a comedy ! It's a simple tip, but if you choose something you like watching in French, you will probably like it in English too. 

Choose something that you are familiar with.
It's best to start off with something simple; this way you have more chance of understanding the the film. Disney films, such as The Lion King are classic examples. Other animations are also interesting to start. The recently released Paddington is also an enjoyable and entertaining film.

If you need to, use the subtitles, of course.
For beginners, subtitles are very useful. Using subtitles in French is the first option. And to make progress, consider using English subtitles. This way, you can match the written subtitles to the words you can hear and it will help you to develop your language.
