Mood is how the reader feels about the characters, the book, and how the characters act. Tone is the author's attitude toward the book and the characters. Also, it is the way the authors describes everything using descriptive words.

However, tone is how the author feels about his writing piece and the attitude he puts towards it.
For example: If a character is blamed for something it didn't do, you might feel angry. That is mood. However, if an author writes something it doesn't like to write about, like if J.K Rowling wrote about natural science, then the tone would probably be confused.
