I think to have a heart that is willing to help, we need to learn to see others as friends. To do that, we need first to empathize with others, immerse ourselves in their context, and have meaningful conversations with them all of which can help foster a profound kind of relationship and connection with others that is rooted in love and kindness.

I will try to always think about the possible effects of my actions-- the good and bad. I will also try to be more aware of the context of others, get to know them, and put myself in their shoes. In the process, hopefully, I make personal relationships with them. Through these, I will be more aware and intentional with my actions.

To be capable of choosing the more loving option, I think it's important to actively listen and develop empathy. For me, listening entails having a deeper understanding of that person (or the situation), which would make it easier to connect with them and see where they're coming from. Thinking from their point of view can allow you to see how a choice can affect the person positively or negatively and can hopefully help you discern (and eventually decide) which is the more loving option - one that helps, and not causes unnecessary hurt.
