Diving into past events that I've learned from and figuring out how I learned Writing Project One helped me reflect on myself. Writing about this part of me or even this time of my life was not easy, it took a ton of thought, along with brainstorming how I would structure this story. Over time, I gained the ability to analyze my past and how It changed me today by making it into a story. The main learning curve for me was organizing the story in my head; it was such a rough time of my life for me that being able to remember what and when it happened was tough. A strategy I used was going back into my camera roll around that time to see if I could put the picture to the story and in what order this stuff happened. WP1 was such a deep dive into not only me as a person but how I write. In the team discussion, Kedus made an excellent point about whether I “felt like my mind was “trapped” in the future. Like clockwork, it was just constantly thinking about the future.”(Kedus). I considered this advice, and it opened my eyes to a new perspective on how to write about this issue that I dealt with.

For me, it was a great insight into what community truly means to me. Writing this project specifically changed me as a writer. When I was crafting this project, I intended to engage this reader in ways that I had not used before. I wanted to give details but not fully clarify, leaving the reader to make their own story from my story. The feedback that stood out to me was, “Linus, this is a really powerful look at passion and disappointment while gaining soft skills that you never explicitly went after.” (Arnold). This confirmed the passive soft skills that I was aiming for the reader to catch while not going too in-depth.

For me, writing project three helped me the most. Back in my second semester of freshman year, I had my doubts. I doubt that I was cut out for engineering and that I was gonna be able to make it through. Near the end of the semester, I started struggling with tapping into the motivation I possessed before I was unsure and even emailed about switching out of engineering. After finals were over, I talked to my dad. He told me that it was my choice, but really, he sees me doing this. I settled on giving it another semester or year to see where my head was at. Reflecting on where I came from for this project truly saved me, I realized that I am cut out for engineering, and I even gained new motivation for what specific field of engineering I wanted to pursue. This project overall helped me clarify whether or not I wanted to pursue a degree in engineering.

WP4 was a fun project for me; I was able to work in a group and remix WP3. I further strengthened my ability to work in groups, especially that being a project about something we are all individually interested in. If this project increased my writing skills in one way, that way I would be working among peers creatively. One of the peer reviews for this project further proves the creativity of this project. “I enjoyed this project because it presents the information in a way that is visually/presented in a concise manner but is also very creative.” (Barnett). This is something I'm not too keen on. Usually, I work on problem-solving for group projects because of the classes I have to take for engineering, but this was refreshing while also being a massive learning experience at the same time.

Reflecting on my past Wednesday's work and where they brought me, I found that they began to alter my way of thinking when analyzing writing. Specifically Adam Grant, looking into Adam Grant's ideas and analyzing them helped me set an unknown clarity and understanding for the project that I didn't know I needed. When reflecting on sierra palm trees, I foreshadowed what my main point of WP1 would be; I stated “Sometimes we just need to back down and ride out the storm.” This is exactly what staying present with yourself is, you are not overthinking anything, you are just going with the flow, which brings peace”. This is a prime account of when I incorporated the Wednesday work into my project. This and many other aspects of Wednesday's work prepared me more for the project at hand.

Where I've Come

My time in class was for me an uphill climb, whether I enjoyed being called on for my input on certain topics or not, I believe it was important. I was able to overcome a boundary that I did not think I was able to. Before I was not interested in class discussions I believed that they came off completely pointless, but after experiencing this class first hand my opinion on this completely changed. Discussing with the class furthered my knowledge on the topics, along with what my peers had to say. Throughout the brainstorming process along with the proposal, I was able to gain a healthy time management regiment that helped with organization, ideas, and detail. I've learned how this class has deeply affected me as well as my writing process in a multitude of ways. Reflecting on the various writing projects I’ve completed this semester, I can confidently say they have played a significant role in my growth as a writer. Each project challenged me in unique ways, pushing me to think deeper, explore new perspectives, and refine my writing skills. Collectively, these projects have not only made me a better storyteller but also a more reflective, intentional, and creative writer. WP1 was a turning point for me. Diving into my past and analyzing moments of personal growth required me to be vulnerable and introspective. WP2 shifted my focus to community and how it shapes me. This project helped me hone my ability to engage readers by striking a balance between detail and subtlety. WP3 was perhaps the most impactful for my growth. Reflecting on my doubts about pursuing engineering and the eventual clarity I gained was transformative. If I hadn't done this project I do not know if I would still be in engineering today. WP4 challenged me to collaborate creatively with my peers. Remixing WP3 in a group setting required me to think outside the box and step outside my comfort zone. Finally, Wednesday Work enhanced my ability to analyze and incorporate external ideas into my projects. Exploring concepts from writers like Adam Grant and reflecting on metaphors, such as Sierra palm trees, expanded my critical thinking and helped me shape the central themes of my projects. Overall, these projects have helped me grow into a more reflective and intentional writer. I’ve learned to turn personal experiences into meaningful stories, engage readers with subtlety, and collaborate creatively with others. Most importantly, these projects have taught me that writing is not just about completing an assignment, it's a process of self-discovery and growth.
