In The Marrow Thieves, family and community play a very important role. As I noted in my TENs assignment, family in Indigenous culture serves as a source of safety, guidance and identity. Frenchie, who is without his family, feels lost and unsure of who he is. Yet with his “found family”, the group he joins, he finds identity and safety, and learns more of his purpose.
