If this is in fact his argument, then I agree with him.
When listening to music, the listener gains information about the the musician through the tone, lyrics and structure of the song and because of this, a relationship is formed with the musician. Additional information about the artist is gained every time their music is listened to and the relationship keeps developing or changing.
