This project was the most time consuming for me. The project required a lot of work to make every detail. First, I separated my design into two parts, what would be on the top and what would be on the bottom. Then I glued my designs to sheet metal and sawed out the lines. The mouth and the eyes use negative space, so I had to saw them out of the metal. It took a few days to do this. I made a mistake when sawing out the wolf, I mistakenly gave the wolf an underbite. A noticeable flaw. The next step is to use the drill press to pierce out the eye. The next and most difficult step for me was sodering the pieces together. It was very difficult for me because my project was very detailed. I had to soder every opening. I sodered near the snout and the back of the wolf's head. Then I went to the polishing station to polish and clean the soot out of the little openings.

This project's purpose was to make sure I fully understood the enameling process. Enameling is when a design is made onto metal. A wide variety of colors can be used. The first step was to dome the metal circles. It took a wile before the metal started to take shape. I had to position the rawhide mallet at various locations on the metal in order to make the perfect shape.

This project was the first major project of the semester. This one was challenging for me because I was still struggling on how to solder. I also had to completely redo the project because I originally made a tree and I figured out it had to have negative space. The first step is I chose semi-thick gold and silver wire, soldered them together, and shaped them to make circles for the rings. The next step is I inserted the smaller ring inside of the larger one at an angle to give it the gyroscope look.

For the bracelet I used 10 gauge nickel wire. I milled it ti make the square edges. I used a 3 then a 5 then back to a 3. I then used pliers to curl the metal to make the twists. In order for the curls to connect, I used hard solder to attach them together.

This was one of the more difficult projects I made over the semester. It was a long process that required lots of help. The design is a lock above a heart. When you open the locket, you see a compass and an enameled back. The meaning is, open your heart and you will find love. First, I domed the pieces of copper sheet metal. Then I sawed out my design for the compass. The middle is sawed out to incorporate negative space. I then, made the lock out of wire that I soldered together. I then enameled the first dome blue and made a red heart. I used the kiln fire glue to attach the wire lock to the dome. I made the second dome purple because purple is one of my mom's favorite colors. For the compass, I soldered four wires that intersect. I used the alphabet stamps to put a N,S,E,W. For the hinge, I was given tubing that I cut into 3 even parts. I then used sheet metal and shaped it to surround the domes for the bezel.

This was one of the last project I made this semester. To forge, I used a 7 inch piece of 12 gauge gold wire. I forged out the ends to make them flat. Then I would turn the wire to the right, forge that so it flattens, and use my left hand to "flip" it, created that twist look. I repeated that process four times. I then shaped the wire to fit my wrist.

For the locket, I did not finish it in time because of the gas not being on for the final day and the day last week. What I have left to do is attach the hinges and polish it. I also need to attach the domes.
