Puritan Beliefs: Church was a huge part of the puritan culture and religion. even though they moved away for a new life the still kept there culture and there beliefs in the god they have always known. They did in fact learn a lot about other cultures and what they might have believed in but most stuck with the religion that the had previously came with.

Puritan Writing Style: He went very in depth about how the practiced there own religions and the good god that lead them to Cape Cod.

Context/ Example: "Yet he lived many years after and became a profitable member both in church and common wealth"

Puritan Belief: Chosen to live and prosper in the new life by god. This was how they all decided to leave and live in the new land and learn new things on there own without help. They had relationships with other p[people and the native Americans. That is why we had thanksgiving and most of what we have today. They believe that god was the one that sent them to this place and who sends them to heaven.

Puritan Writing style: The writing style of this that is there are very illustrate beliefs , it is very wrote to the point and uses common language. These are just very few ways as to how the author represented the Puritan belief from above.

Context/ Example: "...but it pleased god that he caught hold of the top sail halyards which hung overboard and ran out at length" this statement shows the good power that he held over the lives of people and how he helped the through the jouney that some may or may have not been ready for.

Puritan Belief: External Damnation was another belief that he had mentioned in his text. That is like how something is with respect to its main attributes. This was gods meaning of destroying sinners. That's why they got sent to Hell rather then Heaven. That is what the Puritans believe.

Puritan Writing Style: Descriptive language was and example as to how interpreted the puritan belief above. He did this by adding lots of detail to his writing when it came to External Damnation.

Context/ Example: This is an example of both of the above mixed in two one quote "There is nothing between you and hell but air; it is only the power and mere pleasure of god that holds you up". This is basically showing how much power god hold over his head and in his hands.

Puritan Belief: Predestination is one Puritan Belief that Jonathan had talked about. Predestination is the divine foreordaining of all that will happen. This story uses predestination a lot, but doesn't mention the actual word at all.

Puritan writing Style: Repetition, Imagery are the ways he helped the reader understand predestination

Context/ Example: This a quote from the story that reminded me of imagery, repetition and predestination. "So that thus it is, that natural men are held in the hands of go over the pit of hell"
