In high school, I would always write last minute papers and would never revise them. I found out quickly in undergrad that this was not the best strategy. Now that I am writing more technical and scientific pieces for publication, I am still struggling to be cohesive, yet concise. I enjoy metaphors, flowing descriptive imagery, and attempts at humor. I find that I write best in pieces with lots of revision.

Think about it, human beings are the most interesting creatures you could ever hope to find." -Ryogo Narita

On Writing: I have, and continue to, enjoy eloquent, and possibly extraneous writing. In the past my papers have been to bloated with unnecessary rhetoric and examples, which has hurt my work on the whole. As a writer for my high schools paper, I learned to pair down my writing style, however free writing assignments, such as this, may cause me to relapse. I enjoy film and TV projects such as Trumbo, and The West Wing, based on their extensive use of nearly Biblical scriptwriting and self-acceptance of said efforts. I find that I write best, and perhaps most passionately in my uninhibited first draft, while the revisiting process hampers me.

I have been writing both stories and poetry since I was very young, and if all goes well, I hope to one day publish a novel. I have a tendency towards detailed descriptive imagery, perhaps to a fault. However, I have found that my essays and other informative writing tend to benefit from at least a rough outline.

You are able to express yourself in different ways, and those who excel at writing, such as poets, rappers, and lyricists, take that expression to a new level. It is also an opportunity to share your opinions, and to learn the opinions of others.

I doubted and still doubt his sayings now however as I saw it as a means to boost my self-esteem rather than appreciate the work itself. Nevertheless, the journey began there and I'd say I'm still pretty mediocre. Drafts typically come with effort as I try to perfect each and every one of my sentences as writing is a delicate craft (just like what I'm doing right now). Yet despite the need to attain perfection, I never actually get to what I'm actually saying. In all honesty, I typically employ vernacular that's "flowery" and extravagant but once it actually gets to the meat of the essay, it's essentially jargon that's hard to read at points.

I'm a less than mediocre writer. I've tried writing the papers a few days early, and I was still pretty bad at it. My strongest writing attribute would certainly be the fact that no matter when I start writing the paper, I will get a mediocre grade. I enjoy poetry and creative things of that sort. Lengthy writing is where I tend to get disinterested after a little while and begin to put forth little effort after a couple paragraphs.

The journey began there and I'd say I'm still pretty mediocre. Drafts typically come with effort as I try to perfect each and every one of my sentences as writing is a delicate craft. Yet despite the need to attain perfection, I never actually get to what I'm actually saying. In all honesty, I typically employ words that are "flowery" and extravagant but once it actually gets to the meat of the essay, it's essentially jargon that's hard to read at points. Nevertheless, writing is a great creative exercise I enjoy from time to time.

I prefer methods that give a more direct solution. In High School, I took both AP Lang and AP Lit which helped to improve my writing. I am continuously trying to improve my writing abilities.

I thought that my writing was pretty bad, but I had a teacher that helped me realize the power behind pen and paper. Through her teachings she showed me that I was a decent writer and that I just need a push and motive to improve. I now view writing as an indispensable skill that I must master in order to achieve greatness.
