I think the literacy section in the teachers room is a great start to having different strat. at people's fingertips within our building. I think us supporting them is sharing at staff meetings, quickly like J- did last month and at plc time. It is just too hard to get into each other's classrooms these days, which is really quite sad because you can learn so much from your colleagues. How could we get a baseline for where we are vocabulary wise I wonder?

For goals it might be useful to get teacher feedback, so we are not setting a goal that school wide they do not see the importance of. To begin we could brainstorm ideas and then prioritize. Curriculum work is needed to see what is covered literacy K-8.

Goal should be related to a common need - perhaps by grade level clusters or school wide. Extending responses should be in the forefront. These responses should be evidence based and include content vocabulary as much as possible. Resources: each other, texts we are using for MCLP/

I think we should look at the Common Core to decide on goals for the year. Could some of the data be the Embedded Assessments that are part of the new Springboard? I would like to take a look at the goals again. I think the support of having one strategy a month was greatly appreciated by most teachers! I think we should keep going with that idea.

May be a silly idea.. but thinking about vocal EHS puts a word of the week on their school sign. I think the kids might get excited about it! Could the kids pic the word as a reward. Or what about projected in the gym on sticky Friday? Word plus definition..... could be another good tool... i know the girl who reads them.

I think the goal for this year should focus on just one thing and strive to do it well. Vocabulary seems to be a strong need, especially in fifth grade.
