Creative Instruction Project

This creative assignment was built for the course Transforming Learning with Technology (ITEC-8231-02E). This was one of my first courses in the program and taught me how to use some new resources to create content for student use. I chose this assignment because it was fun to make, and I actually use it in my classroom today. Although it is a small, humorous reading, my students use it to understand the scientific method and then I have them create a similar project as an activity reviewing the scientific method. This course was the first building block in the program for me to learn how to build content. I still use programs such as Wakelet and Canva to build similair creative classroom materials.

Invasive Species Content Curation

This assignment was one also made through Padlet and was for the course Foundations of Technology-Enabled Learning (ITEC-5233G-01E). Multiple content curations had to be done to complete the entire project, but I wanted to specifically add the Padlet version as I chose this software for this project. This course had me work through multiple programs each week, and during that time was when I started developing more skills from beginner to moderately proficient with content curation. The project had me add artifacts to tell a story to teach the lesson. The lesson was on invasive species, so I added different materials such as videos, articles, and games for students to work through. As the students worked through the Padlet they learned about the invasive species, checked their knowledge, and finally tested themselves. I have used this exact Padlet in my classroom and have had good success with classroom participation.

Case Study Project

This case study project was completed last semester for the course Understanding Diverse Students Through Case Study (EDUF-7230-01F). This was a very difficult and thorough project that had me examine ESOL students' proficiency with science skills in my environmental science course for 9th-grade students. The study was to see how ESOL students were able to complete science experiments and rationalize them through the scientific method. I chose to add this project because it was very developed, and I used some of my other materials, such as the creative instruction project, to help teach the scientific method while doing the case study. This project would have been more difficult to create without my knowledge from the previous courses taken in the master's program.

Portfolio

This assignment is a portfolio of my educational and coaching career. The portfolio was created for the course Educational Research (EDUR-7130-02E). I had the option of using many different platforms to create my portfolio. However, I chose to use Google Sites as it was free and had great reviews. The process of designing the portfolio through Google Sites was easy, and I still use Google Sites to this day. Google Sites was my second option for creating this content curation project, but I opted for Padlet because I like the flow of Padlet's design better than Google Sites. This portfolio shows the progress that I made with designing and creating work through my master's, as there is more development, such as the links, photos, and design features that I started to understand better than when I first entered the program. I still think that I need to improve on using programs such as Google Sites, and I have begun to have my students create projects as well through Google Sites to bring the practice into the classroom.

Formative Assessment Plan

This project was recently completed for the course Enhancing Student Performance (ESED-7131-02F). All of my projects that I have completed throughout the program, helped me build this plan. The formative assessment plan had me look ahead to the upcoming unit and design self-assessment, peer-assessment, immediate feedback, and virtual classroom strategies that were to be incorporated into the unit. This project shows my growth in education as I had to work up to building an entire unit with new strategies for teaching students in the classroom. Also, this project shows my development in working to design material through standards and learning targets. The majority of my classroom assignments are pre-existing and given to me by the school and the textbook. Working to build a unit by creating new learning targets through the standard was a challenge, but I enjoyed having the practice.

Piktochart Tool

This simple yet entertaining Piktochart was created for the course Trends in Middle and Secondary Science (MSED-8231-01F). This was one of my first classes in the program. The course included tools for learning artificial intelligence and some beginner content designs, such as the picture added. I used Piktochart to create a design that showed the differences between abiotic and biotic factors. Although this is not a design that took much time, I found Piktochart to be the easiest tool that I used throughout the master's program. Designing creations like the one posted was all knew to me at this time, and using such an easy tool like Piktochart was a good way to get started, as the next semester's classes were much more difficult.
