Hi everyone!

I'm Kate Beaudoin, and I'll be teaching in Big Sky, Montana. I'm new to teaching, having just graduated with a degree in secondary English teaching. I was a journalist in my first career, and I also taught journalism at a university. I've lived all over the U.S.—grad school and work in New York City, studying in Washington, D.C., as well as Utah, North Dakota, and Montana. I'll be teaching SL IB my first year to 11th/12th grades.

My most pressing question about this course relates to the flexibility of my own course—how much independence do I have as a teacher in an IB classroom? I think the best way to develop positive online professional relationships is to be honest and vulnerable in what I do and don't know. I bring my own strengths to the table, and I'm excited to learn from other professionals, as well.

I'm brand new to IB, so first of all I want to simply have a better grasp on the basics of the program(me). I also want to be able to outline my course units and build some lesson plans. And finally, I'd like to be intimately familiar with the philosophy behind why we do what we do here with IB.
